Our flagship platform CreditView incorporates credit ratings, research and Moody’s data. It is an essential tool that helps our clients in the professional services, commercial and financial industries to conduct fundamental credit analysis. We're seeking a Software Engineer to join our Digital Insights Search Engineering team, driving the development and maintenance of Moodys.com’s next-gen search/prompt platform, including RAG (retrieval augmented generation) capabilities. As a crucial member of the Digital Insights team, you'll support multiple engineering teams, lead tech transformations, and contribute to Cloud-native solutions. Your role spans the entire data engineering lifecycle, from analysis to implementation. The ideal candidate excels in task delivery, issue escalation, and guiding others through code reviews and workshops. The Work:
- Drive relevance evaluation and experimentation for search and RAG applications
- Design, develop and support a world-class search platform serving individuals and businesses of all sizes.
- Create resilient, efficient, and maintainable code using primary languages like Python and Spark. Tackle complex challenges in areas such as search relevancy, algorithm design, and architecture.
- Expertise in Amazon OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, and SOLR/Apache Lucene, showcasing a deep understanding and proficiency in these technologies.
- Support and contribute to the continuous improvement, tuning, applications, infrastructure developments, process controls, and upgrades of the data platform.
- Collaborate with Moody's technical teams and business owners as needed during the design and implementation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement effective solutions.
The Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, Master's is a plus - or equivalent experience.
- 4+ year of experience contributing to a software development team
- 2+ of experiences contributing to search technologies, especially prior successful search relevancy experience highly desired.
- Experience within all phases of software development working across Agile teams, product owners and external stakeholders.
- Experience driving technical ideas and communicating clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of the organization.
- Strong development, testing, debugging skills at all levels (unit, system, integration, and performance testing) along with detail-oriented documentation skills.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong database engineering skills with emphasis Amazon OpenSearch, Postgres SQL, DynamoDB, Snowflake.
- Experience working with big data technologies: Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, AWS Redshift.
The Bonus Points:
- Prior search relevance experience.
- Prior experience with LLM (Large Language Models).
- Experience with data analytics, as tasks may involve A/B testing and model building.
- Hands on experience implementing, managing, supporting, and developing with AWS database technologies, AWS RDS (Microsoft SQL Server,
- PostgreSQL) and AWS DynamoDB.
- Strong understanding of data quality best practices and data governance principles.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design, and architectural patterns.
- Experience with development technologies: Git (Bitbucket or GitHub), Jira, Rally, Asana, Jenkins, Cypress, Postman/Newman.
- Experience with AWS cloud technologies: ECS/Fargate, ECR (EC2 Container Registry), Lambda, DynamoDB, Aurora PostgreSQL, API (Application
- Programming Interface) Gateway, VPC (Virtual Private Cloud), ALB, NLB, Neptune.
- Experience with development languages: Java (Spring Boot), Scala
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $94,800 - $137,400, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
