The Portfolio Manager (PM) Compensation Reporting & Analysis team at Millennium is responsible for all accounting matters pertaining to trader compensation. The group collaborates with Senior Portfolio Managers (“SPMs”), Trading Management, Middle Office, Legal and Human Resources to review, calculate, consult and account for contractual PM Compensation.
Outside of preparing monthly and year-end payout calculations, the team is responsible for reporting and analysis to SPMs and senior management, as well as various ad hoc requests. To support the firm’s evolving compensation strategies, team members will also work on strategic projects with a dedicated technology team to help increase efficiency and automate complex calculations. This role provides opportunities to collaborate cross-functionally with business management teams, portfolio managers, and senior leaders.
We are seeking a candidate that has an analytical approach to problem-solving, strong financial acumen, and an understanding of private equity investment structures, and carried interest calculations. Principal Responsibilities
Working on all aspects of Portfolio Manager Lifecycle from understanding compensation agreements, to onboarding new teams, to portfolio manager compensation calculations.
Interacting with various other departments including Portfolio Managers, Business Heads, HR, Legal, Middle Office, IT
Preparing month-end closing, reporting, and compensation-related processes, with particular focus on new strategic ventures in private equity investments
Monitoring and reviewing P&L of specific portfolio investments; assessing their impact on the compensation calculation
Helping to implement reporting and analysis to senior management that adds value to overall business
Coordinating with the technology team to work on automation and process improvement efforts
Tackling ad-hoc projects as needed
Qualifications/Skills Required
3+ years in a Finance or Accounting role, (e.g. preferably public and/or private accounting background with experience in private equity carried interest waterfall calculations)
Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred
Familiarity with carried interest waterfall calculations and their implications on fund distributions
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate with senior leaders (including management and Portfolio Managers) and convey complex financial concepts effectively
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment, with a strong client service mentality, as well as a willingness to participate and help others
Proven ability to contribute in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks effectively, and handle time efficiently
Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and dedication to accuracy, quality, and integrity
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Oracle and Tableau would also be a plus
The estimated base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $160,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package.
