We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Shop Operations Team Manager to join our team specializing in manufacturing for our Cummins’ business in Bloomfield, CT.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Deliver daily production targets by sequencing work, allocating resources, and removing roadblocks to maximize throughput while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Elevate safety performance through proactive hazard identification, daily 5S/Gemba walks, and rapid mitigation—modeling safe behaviors and driving a zero‑injury culture.

Improve productivity and efficiency by standardizing work, optimizing line balance and changeovers, and applying root-cause problem solving (e.g., 5 Whys, Pareto) to eliminate losses.

Strengthen quality at the source by reinforcing standard operating procedures, containment and corrective actions, and first-pass yield—reducing scrap, rework, and customer escapes.

Lead cross-functional improvements (Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain) to stabilize flow, reduce downtime, and increase OEE/schedule attainment through structured Kaizen events.

Coach, mentor, and develop the team with clear expectations, real-time feedback, and skills cross-training—building bench strength, engagement, and a high-performance culture.

Enhance communication and accountability via daily tier meetings, visual management, and KPIs (safety, quality, delivery, cost, morale), ensuring everyone understands goals and roles.

Execute projects and work assignments as group lead—scoping objectives, coordinating resources, tracking milestones, and sustaining gains to lock in measurable, repeatable results.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Build and lead high-performing, engaged teams: Create a strong team identity by valuing diverse perspectives, developing talent through coaching and feedback, directing work effectively, and fostering a climate where employees are motivated and accountable for results.

Communicate, collaborate, and manage conflict effectively: Partner cross-functionally to achieve shared objectives, deliver clear and audience-appropriate communication, and address conflict constructively to keep teams focused and productive.

Drive safe, data-informed decisions and results: Champion health, safety, and environmental fundamentals; lead thorough incident investigations with strong root-cause analysis; and make timely, high-quality decisions that sustain an injury-free workplace and operational performance.

Continuously improve processes and performance: Apply continuous improvement and waste-reduction methodologies to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost, while consistently delivering results—even under challenging conditions.
