We’re seeking a hands‑on engineering leader to design, develop, and operate custom applications, automation, and platform tooling that power Viva Engage across the firm.

This role includes partnering with business units to board them to Viva Engage, collaborating with third party vendors, and working closely with internal engineering and security teams (LDAP/Web Proxy Engineering, Security Architecture). The position also involves supporting migrations from legacy platforms into Viva Engage.

This is Lead Workplace Engineering position at Director level, which is part of the job family responsible for managing and optimizing the technical environment and end-user experience across various workplace technologies, ensuring seamless operations and user satisfaction across the organization.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Design, build, and maintain custom applications and automation tooling supporting Viva Engage, onboarding, and large‑scale migrations.

  • Own end‑to‑end development of platform services using C#, .NET, Python, and Microsoft Graph APIs.

  • Build scalable onboarding, lifecycle management, and compliance workflows for enterprise communities.

  • Develop tooling to support legacy‑to‑Viva Engage migrations, including validation, entitlement, and data integrity checks.

  • Partner with Security Architecture, LDAP, and Web Proxy Engineering to integrate identity, authentication, and network controls.

  • Troubleshoot complex distributed systems and integrations, driving root‑cause resolution.

  • Create clear technical documentation, runbooks, and architecture diagrams.

  • Provide tier‑3 engineering support and participate in a rotation‑based on‑call model.

  • Influence platform standards, SDLC practices, and automation strategy.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building and operating production systems using C#, .NET, and/or Python.

  • Experience designing enterprise grade services and automation that integrate with Microsoft 365 via Graph API.

  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, authentication flows, and SaaS integration patterns.

  • Practical experience with OAuth 2.0, SAML, and enterprise identity platforms (Azure AD / Entra ID).

  • Proficiency with PowerShell, REST APIs, and automation frameworks.

  • Experience owning systems through the full SDLC, including build, deploy, operate, and support.

  • Ability to debug complex cross‑system issues involving identity, networking, and external SaaS platforms.

  • Strong communication skills for working with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of e‑Communications requirements, Information barriers, Data classification frameworks, Data loss/leakage protection models

  • Solid understanding of security and internet technologies such as HTTPS, TLS, digital certificates, and web proxies.

  • High‑level understanding of AI concepts including Generative AI, Prompt engineering Large Language Models (LLMs)

  • Experience with enterprise community platforms or digital workplace solutions.

  • Prior experience supporting large‑scale migrations is a plus.
