    Position Overview

The Finance BI Product Owner is responsible for ensuring the delivery of value-driven reporting and analytics capabilities to business stakeholders. This role builds strong relationships across Finance, Engineering, and Analytics teams to effectively prioritize the product backlog in a way that balances short-term business needs with long-term strategic goals.

The Product Owner leads a scrum team through sprint ceremonies, tracks delivery and adoption metrics, drives continuous process improvement, and improves end-user satisfaction by delivering meaningful value to Finance. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong background in Business Intelligence and/or Finance, curiosity, and a deep understanding of users and how to effectively elicit requirements from them.

    Responsibilities

    • Collect, triage, review, and collaborate with stakeholders to understand issues, ideas, or change requests; document requirements as actionable user stories in Jira

    • Ensure team members and stakeholders have a clear understanding of product vision, value, and sprint-level goals

    • Own and curate a refined product backlog that balances immediate business needs, value-driven initiatives, and remediation of technical debt across a portfolio of models

    • Collaborate with stakeholders, model builders, solution architects, product managers, and integration teams to execute complex, connected planning and reporting initiatives

    • Own and facilitate all sprint ceremonies and quarterly sprint roadmaps

    • Proactively manage risks, resolve issues, and remove blockers to enable efficient delivery

    • Develop a strong understanding of end-to-end finance business processes and how reporting solutions integrate within those processes

    • Contribute to communications and progress updates through metrics, win posts, and stakeholder meetings

    • Ensure user acceptance testing (UAT) is completed, signed off, and solutions are released to production.

    • Assist the business with change management materials to support adoption of Finance BI data products.

    • Provide end-user support by resolving issues directly, enabling self-service, or partnering with model builders as needed

    • Flex into project management practices for large-scale, deadline-driven initiatives

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Prior experience in Finance, Business Intelligence, Product, and/or Program Management

    • A solid understanding of finance reporting and core finance processes

    • Ability to understand reports, dashboards, and underlying data or model configurations

    • Understanding of data integration and validation between source systems and BI tools (Power BI, QlikView, Business Objects, Sigma, etc.)

    • Advanced knowledge of Excel, data analysis, and BI visualization tools

    • A strong customer mindset and enjoyment in helping users navigate and resolve complex or time-sensitive issues

    • Experience managing backlogs, work in progress, and prioritization discussions with stakeholders

    • Experience delivering solutions using Agile, Scrum, Lean, or other iterative software development methodologies

    • Demonstrated ability to balance business requirements with technical feasibility and trade-offs

    • Adaptability to work effectively in large teams, small teams, independently, remotely, and in-person

    • A strong desire to learn and adopt emerging reporting and analytics solutions such as Power BI and Sigma

    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to move seamlessly between technical and business-focused discussions

    • Strong curiosity and judgment in knowing which questions to ask to gain clarity and uncover value

    • Leadership skills, agility, and adaptability to work across technical and business-facing teams

    • Strong critical-thinking skills with the ability to turn abstract ideas into actionable outcomes and articulate business impact

    • Prior experience with Jira, Confluence, Lucidchart, Miro, and Microsoft Teams is a plus

    • Thrive in environments with ambiguity and bring structure, focus, and alignment

    • Tailor communication styles to different audiences and understand when to lead versus listen

    • Bring strong financial acumen and experience working within complex finance processes

    • Think strategically, prioritize effectively, define roadmaps, and influence outcomes

    • Take a customer-centric and data-driven approach to product development

    • Demonstrate ownership, bias for action, and a strong results orientation

    • Have a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, with a strong commitment to continuous learning.
