The Strategy Senior Lead Analyst is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Typically a small number of people within the business that provide the same level of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Accountable for significant direct business results or authoritative advice regarding the operations of the business. Necessitates a degree of responsibility over technical strategy. Primarily affects a sub-function. Responsible for handling staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project.

  • Work within the strategy function, supporting the development and implementation of strategies to grow the business. Analyze and assess implications for the business, and conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses to assess new opportunities, investments, and partnership projects.
  • Deliver regular global and country level competitive intelligence analysis.
  • Follow emerging industry trends and potential disrupters to segments and strategy.
  • Deliver specific ad-hoc analysis and tactical support in preparation for business and management meetings.
  • Demonstrate a significant grasp of the organization, the business, and the markets to deliver crisp and succinct executive-level responses.
  • Grasp key priorities and complex issues quickly for the larger organization and create clear written presentations/communications
  • Document findings of study and prepare recommendations for implementation of new systems, procedures, or organizational changes.
  • Interview personnel and conduct on-site observation to ascertain unit functions, work performed, and methods, equipment, and personnel used.
  • Analyze data gathered and develop solutions or alternative methods of proceeding.
  • Plan study of work problems and procedures, such as organizational change, communications, information flow, integrated production methods, inventory control, or cost analysis.
  • Confer with personnel concerned to ensure successful functioning of newly implemented systems or procedures.
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in Financial Services.
  • Project planning and management experience.
  • Prior Consulting experience.
  • Understands consumer financial services businesses and operating model
  • Proven strategic thinking and analytic skills coupled with financial acumen. Demonstrated ability to synthesize information, prioritize business goals and drive results with a high sense of urgency.
  • Able to translate data and metrics from across different constituencies in order to create clear and concise executive presentation materials. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Able to create support across a wide range of stakeholders through well-developed interpersonal and influencing capabilities.
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communications skills. Able to work through a large, complex matrix organization; demonstrates a flexible approach and resilience to setbacks.
  • Promotes a culture of collaboration and teamwork across organizational boundaries; willing to break down business and/or functional silos to optimize results.
  • Franchise player; broad, critical thinker, self-motivated; comfortable working with ambiguity.
  • Organizationally savvy; understands systems, management processes, knows where to go for information and how to interpret. Pragmatic problem solver, forward thinker with independence of thought.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead and strengthen client asset regulatory practices within the APAC region for the Global Markets business, ensuring compliance with local regulations while aligning with global standards. The Manager will support the Client Asset Officer in the region, providing oversight, guidance, and strategic direction on APAC client asset processes. The role will also assist in running the Client Asset Governance Committee, chaired by the Client Asset Officer. Over time, the role may extend to cover client asset practices for other business lines within the firm. 

Job Background/Context

We are seeking an experienced and initiative-taking Manager to oversee Client Asset regulation for the APAC region. Based in Mumbai, the role is part of a globally connected team supporting the United Kingdom (UK), Europe (EU) and Middle East and Africa (MEA) operations. The position will initially focus on the Global Markets business, with the potential to expand to other business lines, ensuring APAC client asset practices are aligned with global standards and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Client Asset Officer in the APAC region in implementing and maintaining client asset regulatory frameworks and controls.
  • Assist in running the Client Asset Governance Committee, ensuring effective oversight and coordination of client asset matters across APAC.
  • Oversee the APAC client asset regulatory agenda for Global Markets, ensuring robust controls and compliance with local regulations.
  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight on APAC client asset practices, escalating key issues to the global team as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the global team to drive consistent application of client asset policies and frameworks across the regions.
  • Monitor emerging APAC regulatory developments and assess their impact on client asset practices.
  • Mentor and support junior team members within the APAC client asset function.
  • Support audits, and interactions with regulators in APAC (if required).

Development Value:

  • Lead APAC client asset regulation initiatives while being fully integrated into a global team.
  • Support the Client Asset Officer in the region, including assisting with the Client Asset Governance Committee.
  • Focus initially on Global Markets with potential exposure to other business lines.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, law, or related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in financial services compliance, client asset regulation, or operational risk preferably with exposure to APAC markets.
  • Strong knowledge of APAC client asset regulation is preferred; understanding of UK/EU frameworks is advantageous.
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills within a global environment.
  • Experience supporting senior stakeholders, such as the Client Asset Officer, and governance committees is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex regulatory matters.
