BECM is a new program to integrate and deploy a battle management capability for the Navy’s long range fires mission, centered on integrating moderate-to-high TRL software applications into an on-prem hardware stack running Kubernetes. The systems will ultimately deploy to Navy sites for customer-led test and evaluation. The BECM program uses modern engineering methods including MBSE, DevSecOps and Agile Scrum at Scale, as well as a heavy focus on development of automated test capabilities.
As a member of the System Engineering & Test scrum team, the Systems / Test Engineer performs requirements and interface analysis, systems architecture and analysis, test case development and system verification, and change management.
What You Will Do
- Perform requirements analysis, including decomposing and deriving system and subsystem-level specifications from top level requirements and CONOPS, allocating the requirements to design components and test cases, and conducting requirements reviews.
- Define test cases to verify system requirements, including defining test threads and specifying needs for associated test harnesses and test data. System tests include functional tests, interface tests, and performance tests (e.g., scalability and load tests).
- Support implementing and configuring the test harness and creating test data to conduct system-level acceptance test.
- Work with automated test engineers to create automated tests using tools such as Selenium (UI test), SoapUI (interface test), and Jmeter (performance tests).
- Use an integrated Digital Engineering Environment that includes Cameo (MBSE and requirements), Zephyr (test management), and Jira (Agile).
- Support related system engineering activities including system analysis, trade studies, change management, risk management, and defect review/disposition.
- Engage with the Navy customer and stakeholders at weekly Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), sprint demos, and formal reviews such as Design Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews.
- Contribute to a team of system integration & test engineers in accomplishing engineering tasks via an Agile iterative approach.
Qualifications You Must Have
- 4+ years of experience performing requirements analysis for software-centric systems, system test engineering for software-centric systems (including defining test cases), developing test procedures and associated data sets, and conducting tests.
- Experience working in Agile Scrum, using stories to plan, assign, and track work, using SysML models as the primary source of the system design (e.g., interface definitions, use cases, mission threads, system components & their allocated requirements).
- Knowledge of automated testing using tools such as Selenium or Cucumber (functional test), SoapUI (API tests), JMeter (performance test), and Zephyr (test manager & test status dashboard).
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Local travel for customer meetings (approximately 20%) and additional periodic CONUS travel to support integration and test may be required.

- 2+ years of experience creating automated user interface and external interface tests using tools such as Selenium and SoapUI, creating automated performance load tests using tools such as Jmeter, performing system analysis in Cameo (including defining interfaces, performing design, and allocating requirements), configuring a tool such as Zephyr for test management
