Job Purpose

The PMO Intern – Data Analyst is an entry‑level, developmental role within the Project Management Office (PMO), focused on supporting data accuracy, reporting, and analytics across the project portfolio. This role provides hands‑on exposure to portfolio reporting, financial tracking, KPI analysis, and process automation while reinforcing the data discipline expected in a high‑performing PMO. The intern will work closely with PMO leadership, Project Managers to prepare Power BI dashboards, maintain accurate cost and KPI data, and support monthly and ad hoc reporting cycles. In addition, the role contributes to automating recurring data workflows and improving the quality, consistency, and reliability of PMO reporting.
This position is designed to build foundational skills in data analytics, Power BI development, problem‑solving, and professional accountability—serving as a strong entry point into future PMO, analytics, or project operations roles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards that support portfolio reporting, KPI visibility, and monthly PMO leadership updates.
  • Assist Project Managers in maintaining accurate cost, forecast, and KPI data within Planisware, Excel models, and other approved PMO tools.
  • Prepare monthly and ad‑hoc financial reports, including cost summaries, CPI/SPI views, and project-level dashboards for leadership review.
  • Build automated data pipelines using Excel PowerQuery, Power Automate, or Python to streamline recurring reporting tasks.
  • Support data cleaning, validation, and standardized KPI calculations to ensure consistent and reliable metrics across the portfolio.
  • Create automated workflows for portfolio snapshots, monthly updates, and governance reporting to reduce manual PMO workload.
  • Help develop early prototypes of AI‑enabled PM tools (intake summaries, risk statements, lessons-learned extraction, status report drafting).
  • Assist in building a searchable PMO knowledge assistant that helps PMs quickly find templates, procedures, and governance steps.
  • Contribute to the development of a lessons‑learned automation engine using GPT models to categorize insights and feed Power BI views.
  • Collaborate with PMO leadership to troubleshoot data, refine reporting logic, and ensure accuracy across all outputs.
  • Perform general analytics work and support special projects that improve reporting efficiency, governance consistency, and portfolio visibility.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in project financial management, analytics, or PMO operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with data analysis or reporting tools is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a professional environment.

General Job Requirements

  • This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
