Job Purpose

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Waste Management Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate willbe responsible for ensuring the proper disposal and management of waste materials in compliance with environmentalregulations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a cleanand safe environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect and sort various types of waste materials, including recyclables, hazardous waste, and general waste.
  • Operate and maintain waste management equipment such as compactors, balers, and shredders.
  • Monitor waste disposal procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Safely handle and transport hazardous materials according to established safety protocols.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of waste reduction and recycling programs.
  • Conduct regular inspections of waste storage areas to identify and address any potential safety hazards orenvironmental concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of waste disposal activities, including quantity, type, and disposal method.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on proper waste handling and disposal procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to implement sustainable practices and improve waste management processes.
  • Respond to emergencies or spills involving hazardous materials, following established emergency responseprotocols.

Qualifications

  • Training or certification in waste management or environmentalscience preferred.
  • Previous experience in waste management, recycling, or a related field is desirable.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices for waste disposal.
  • Ability to safely operate waste management equipment and tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record and track data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to undergo additional training and certification as required.
  • Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
