Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Engineer Software – SW Applications Test Eng (RA) (24-396 & 24-397) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.
As member of the Regional Applications Agile Release Train (ART) of the Missile Defense National Team for Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) (aka C2BMC NT), this position will participate in software design and peer reviews, develop test specifications and infrastructure, execute manual and automated test and perform analysis of C2BMC implementation in an integrated environment or to test specific capabilities for interfaces or infrastructure in support of operations (e.g., Internal Messaging, control and monitoring, message and display recording and playback, failover processing).
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate lab resources, test results, and verification status with the C2BMC program and customers.
- Occasional Travel between Colorado Springs facilities/sites and Huntsville, AL, is expected.
- Possess experience testing and evaluating a software-intensive system in various test environments/venues, utilizing Agile development.
- Requires a strong, self-starting individual capable of diving into problems with assistance from other test engineers and software developers.
- Candidate experience should include:
- use of DoD test methodologies
- Functional capability-related test/analysis planning and execution
- Planning and execution of test data collection

Test data analysis and reporting.

The analysis experience should involve characterizing system, software, or component performance using quantitative methods, reporting the characterization to subsequent users, and contributing to performance assessment by program system engineers. This experience may come from independent efforts and/or from participation within test teams.
Basic Qualifications:

- An active Secret clearance is required to start.
- 5 years’ experience with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field; 3 years’ experience with a master’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field .
- Test knowledge and experience
- Experience with an Agile development process.
- Automated testing for requirement verification and performance assessment Requirement and verification analysis.
- Conducting post-processing and analysis of collected data.
- Development of action plans based upon analysis of data.
- Documenting software deficiency reports.
- Presenting analysis results and action plans orally and/or in written format (e.g., slides, annotated slides, test report document).
- Must possess strong verbal/written communication skills, enabling them to work effectively in a small technical team environment and to accurately represent test perspectives to C2BMC systems engineers and architects, software designers, other testers, and test support personnel, the Government customers, and personnel in other MDA programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is highly desired.
- Experience in a DevSecOps environment is extremely desired.
- A master’s degree is highly desired.

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:
Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
