    Position Overview

Autodesk Water is undergoing a strategic transformation to reimagine how water infrastructure is designed, delivered, and operated. As part of this evolution, we are seeking a Distinguished Software Architect to lead architectural innovation across our cloud and cloud-desktop hybrid platforms. This role will report directly to the Senior Director of Product Management and Engineering for Water and be a core member of the Water Leadership Team.

You will drive architectural decisions that shape the future of water infrastructure software, with a focus on scalable cloud-native systems, hybrid desktop-cloud integrations, and AI-powered automation. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role requiring deep technical expertise, strategic vision, and strong collaboration across Autodesk divisions.

This role will contribute to our sustainability goals by enabling technologies that support resilient and environmentally responsible water infrastructure.

    Responsibilities

    • Architectural Leadership: Define and evolve the architecture of water infrastructure systems, including hybrid desktop-cloud platforms and AI-enhanced workflows
    • Strategic Alignment: Align architectural decisions with transformation goals and Autodesk’s broader platform strategy
    • System Design: Govern the components, relationships, and principles of complex systems spanning multiple products and services
    • AI Integration: Lead efforts to embed AI into architectural workflows, particularly where AI may augment or replace traditional design paradigms
    • Collaboration: Partner with architects across AEC, platform teams, and product domains to ensure cohesive system-level design
    • Documentation & Communication: Use views, diagrams, and formalisms to articulate designs. Communicate effectively across disciplines and leadership levels
    • Operational Accountability: Ensure architectural decisions support reliability, privacy, security, and performance goals through implementation and operations
    • Mentorship: Share knowledge through mentoring and seminars
    • Influence: Effective at influencing technological and process decisions across a large multidisciplinary organization
    • Innovation: Recognize and apply novel approaches to design challenges. Stay current with architectural patterns, technologies, and industry frameworks

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

    • 10+ years of experience in software architecture, with at least 5 years in cloud or hybrid environments

    • Proven track record of delivering system-level designs across complex domains

    • Expertise in cloud services, distributed systems, and data modeling

    • Experience in moving from legacy technologies to modern solutions, leveraging skills in creativity and efficiency

    • Strong understanding of AI technologies and their application in design automation

    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across global technical and non-technical audiences

    • Proficiency in working with a globally diverse team, across different time zones and cultural backgrounds

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry

    • Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field
