The Payer Account Services (PAS) Client Manager serves as the primary liaison for payer and provider clients utilizing the InterQual service offering. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional client service, driving technology adoption, and supporting both growth and retention initiatives.

 

As a trusted partner, the PAS Client Manager builds and maintains strong relationships with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure delivery on customer commitments. Collaboration with Optum Insight's Account Management teams is essential to align strategic priorities and customer plans.

 

This role plays a key part in identifying and advancing growth opportunities within assigned accounts. You will lead cross-functional efforts - engaging sales, operations, product, and technology teams - to achieve revenue, earnings, and client satisfaction goals. Success in this role requires a proactive mindset, operational excellence, and a strong voice of the customer to influence innovation across UnitedHealth Group divisions.

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving agility, and outstanding communication skills. A passion for client excellence and the ability to thrive in a matrixed environment are essential.

 

Travel is estimated at approximately 25%, varying by client territory and business needs.

 

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area preferrably Brentwood, TN, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for entry of timely updates to CRM System (Salesforce CRM), including but not limited to client planning, opportunity management, contact management, current solution footprint, etc.
  • Operate with a sense of urgency to focus the organization on maximizing the client experience. Act quickly to identify opportunities for innovation and new ways to benefit clients
  • Work effectively in a matrix environment and build relationships internally as well as externally. Drive action and results while maintaining a healthy and productive work environment
  • Driving outcomes with internal InterQual matrix business stakeholders to ensure customer centricity, high NPS scores and client retention rates, delivery against customer needs and expectations, profitable growth, and representation for the voice of the customer in our current and future products and technologies
  • Drive improvements in Net Promoter Score (NPS) through customer-centric strategies and service excellence
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company
  • Act as a cultural ambassador, exemplifying UnitedHealth Group's values in all internal and external interactions

Required Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years in client-facing roles or enterprise account management
  • 3+ years working in a matrixed organization with cross-functional teams (e.g., sales, product, technology)
  • Proven track record of managing 10+ client accounts simultaneously
  • Demonstrated success in improving Net Promoter Score (NPS)
  • Proficient in Salesforce CRM, with practical experience in managing client data, tracking opportunities, maintaining contact records, and supporting strategic account planning
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%, based on client territory and business needs

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Client-facing experience in healthcare or payer/provider services
  • Experience supporting Optum Markets (Payers, Employers, Providers, Federal/State government, Emerging Markets)
  • Experience working across UHG, Optum and/or UHC lines of businesses
  • Direct engagement with product and technology teams, contributing to solution development and delivery
  • Proven ability to build and sustain strong relationships and partnerships across internal teams and external stakeholders 
  • Proven application of change management methodologies
  • Skilled in managing multiple priorities simultaneously, with the ability to delegate effectively and maintain thoughtful oversight
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
  • Proficient skills and knowledge of servant leadership, resilience, resourcefulness, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency

 

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $75,000 to $160,000 annually based on full-time employment. This role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
