The Battle Management Command and Control (BMC2) Capabilities engineering organization is seeking a Section Leader/Senior Manager to lead members of our hardware development team located onsite in St. Petersburg, FL.
Our team manages a mature hardware baseline of a Naval program and supports other hardware development efforts in the BMC2 portfolio. This position includes an individual contributor workload where you can expect to work on many if not all the phases of the hardware development life cycle. In this position, you will be responsible for providing strong technical guidance for hardware changes and hardware projects as well as managing a staff of 10+ Mechanical, Electrical and Systems Engineers. The hardware team is organized using Agile scrum methodology.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Section Leader performs management activities and provides leadership for approximately 10-15 hardware engineers supporting various site contracts. These activities include technical development of people, providing and identifying appropriate training for people, and performance management.
This role is also the Department Leader in the execution of BMC2 Capabilities and Collins Aerospace Engineering goals.
You will ensure two-way communication for the section members; serve as the day-to-day liaison to the programs concerning employee job assignments, performance, and recognition.
Responsibilities also include proposal support, coordinating program staffing needs and reductions, and interviewing applicants.
A strong understanding of requirements flow-down, design, development and testing of hardware. Hardware changes for obsolescence, enhancements and ground up design are part of the day to day responsibilities.
Lead and manage the team in maintaining a large program Technical Data Package (TDP) including Configuration Management and Data Management periodic deliveries.
Lead and participate in internal reviews of design changes and TDP changes.
Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering.
Follow established development practices and command media flow downs (AS9100 and MIL-STD-31000).
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Typically requires 10 years of experience.
Experience with Electromechanical design.
Experience developing hardware in a team-based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including ability to produce technical documentation, site-wide media / specifications and the desire to learn new technologies and tools.
Demonstrated success in prior leadership roles.
Experience interfacing with contract customers and presenting technical briefs to the customer community.
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Current Secret clearance is preferred.
Experience using Windchill Product Data Manager (PDM)
Experience in hardware requirements development, management
Experience in hardware procurement, build, test and qualification
Experience interpreting mechanical drawings, hardware specifications and vendor data sheets.
BOE Certification or proposal experience
Experience developing and operating with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Integrated Master Schedules (IMS).
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures.
Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles.
