Our team is looking for a Senior Data Architect to join the EG Data Architecture team, a part of Architecture and Data Management team to help us build reliable and scalable data ecosystem. The position is critical to define data architecture solutions that are rooted in best practices-based approach to support data as a product mindset in a multi domain environment. Help document standards and patterns, perform buy vs build analysis, document data flows and architecture decisions to support various data initiatives. In this role, you will interact with various enterprise, domain architects, data engineers and product owners to architect data pipelines, capabilities that are secure, scalable, flexible, available and reliable. You will lead junior architects, work with them and help them grow. Come up with new ideas to continue building trusted data ecosystem. Your work will lead to a direct impact on growing revenue for EG as well as architect foundation components for standing up the EG platform.

- Has proven ability, experience and advanced knowledge of building and operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets.
- Acts as a spokesperson for data architecture best practices.
- Researches and recommends frameworks and architectural/code design patterns for large scale data processing in a scalable distributed environment.
- Advises on designing, performance/scalability tuning of batch and real time stream analytics and large data processing systems.
- Identifies areas of improvements within the design and suggests solutions.
- Advises on technical limitations of software design for products and provides alternative solutions.
- Facilitates collaboration with different stakeholders with varied perspectives to develop effective solutions to issues.
- Strives for optimum organizational efficiency by applying design thinking across boundaries and making recommendations about policies/ processes.
- Takes a whole systems approach to analyze issues and implements holistic solutions by ensuring that linkages between structure, people, process and technology are made.
- Recognizes anti patterns and technical debt with current systems and design plans for disrupting them in a non-disruptive manner.
- Designs and leads advancements, innovations and changes in current solution designs (specifically related to data engineering, cloud data platforms, data models, enterprise information management, business intelligence and data science).
- Reports on status of difficult or high-level projects to local tech leadership via written or oral means. Ensures documentation is complete.
- Justifies technology choices to both technical and non-technical observers.
- Shares data architecture learnings and best practices across data engineering community in organization
- 7+ years of experience developing data engineering solutions, including ETLs, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior or lead role.
- 4+ years of experience in a data architect role
- 3+ years’ Experience in Cloud computing platforms including AWS, Databricks and Snowflake
- 5+ years’ Experience in Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Splunk, Datadog.
- Experience in NoSQL and SQL Databases including MongoDB or Elastic Search.
- Experience with data integration strategies and performance optimization
- Experience with data quality, data discoverability and governance tools.
- Experience in language like Python, Java, and/or Scala
- Experience working with BI and data warehousing solutions
- Strong communication skills, experience communicating across various groups, and levels of leadership within a global organization
- Good understanding and working experience with data mesh principles
- Experience performing Build vs Buy analysis for selecting technology tools
- Ability to drive outcomes as opposed to task based execution
