Avra is an expert in catalyzing societal change that supports women and working families. Her approach integrates public policy, strategic communications and intersectoral partnerships for maximum impact. Avra is currently the Head of US Policy Programs at Facebook. She is responsible for coordinating and developing the company’s efforts to maximize social and economic impact in the US. Prior to joining Facebook she was the Director of Public Policy and Strategic Partnerships at Care.com, the world’s largest destination for finding care. Avra previously served for 6 years at the White House under President Obama, as the Deputy Director of the White House Council on Women and Girls and lead on women’s economic security at the White House National Economic Council during the financial crisis. She has worked on multiple Presidential and local campaigns. Avra holds a BA from the University of Michigan and an MPA from NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service. She lives in Washington D.C. with her husband and two young boys.
