As we move into the post-pandemic era, we have a unique opportunity to advocate for real change. Join PowerToFly and APCO Worldwide for this keynote roundtable discussion that will focus on how the tech industry is working to overcome its historic challenges relating to diversity, particularly in leadership and engineering roles. Meet The Speakers

Jennifer (Jen) Madriaga
Jennifer (Jen) Madriaga
Senior Manager in Global Community Event Strategy, Red Hat

Jennifer (Jen) Madriaga is the Senior Manager in Global Community Event Strategy at Red Hat where she manages the Community and Emerging Technologies event team under Global Event Experiences. She is also embedded within the Open Source Program Office (OSPO) under the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO). Jen provides marketing expertise for a large number of open source communities and for events targeting technical audiences. She collaborates regularly with a number of community leads, helping them and their communities achieve outreach goals with users, contributors, and other stakeholders. She has been at Red Hat since 2015. She previously worked in higher education and non-profit administration before transitioning to the tech industry.

Jen is a founding member and current chair of the Red Hat Asian Network (RHAN), which was launched in early 2021. She is committed to intersectionality and coalition building with other D + I communities at Red Hat and other companies. She has been a long-time activist in the space of DEI, having completed graduate work in this area and through her involvement with the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS).

Jen graduated magna cum laude and with distinction from Duke University where she also went on to complete a master’s degree. She currently lives in Durham, North Carolina.

Bob Winslow
Bob Winslow
Tech Disruption, Silicon Valley

Bob Winslow, based in Silicon Valley, has excelled in various executive PR roles. He is a senior leader for APCO primarily focused on the tech sector, advising clients as they manage the disruption of an accelerated market for digital transformation. Prior to APCO, he ran global PR for Oracle where he was responsible for all aspects of the company’s communications. He is acknowledged for shifting the Oracle brand to a cloud and applications leader, building key influencer relationships, and utilizing data & analytics for more effective global communications. Bob managed crisis and issues communication for Oracle and its most senior executives.

Before Oracle, he enjoyed a twelve-year career at FleishmanHillard where he oversaw all industry sectors, practices, and intellectual property & products. In addition to running the firm’s global technology sector, he oversaw other sectors including healthcare, energy, consumer, public, financial, manufacturing and food, beverage & agriculture. He led the global effort to certify all FH counselors in a consistent approach to issues and crisis management. He personally advised several customer CEO’s through crisis and issues ranging from shareholder activism to personal life-threatening health to diversity in workforce. He personally advised SAP, Huawei, AT&T, Tencent, Samsung, Google and Salesforce.com in this role. Prior to FH, he was president of North America for global agency Text100, where he advised IBM, Xerox, and others.

Clarence Clayton

Manager of Data Privacy, Red Hat

Clarence Clayton is a Manager of Data Privacy at Red Hat, an open-source software and services company headquartered in Raleigh, NC. He has been with Red Hat since 2013 and is responsible for the management, implementation, maintenance and growth of Red Hat’s data protection and privacy program and ensuring the organization complies with global data privacy laws. With over twenty years of experience in Business Systems Analysis, Project and Program Management, he has a demonstrated track record of success in various industries including Technology Services, Consulting, and the US Postal Service.

Clarence thrives on challenges and always strives to bring a positive and infectious energy to any endeavor. He is a founding member of Red Hat B.U.I.L.D. (Blacks United in Leadership and Diversity), one of Red Hat’s Diversity and Inclusion (D+I) communities. Clarence is currently in his second year as B.U.I.L.D. Chair, helps advance his company’s commitment to a more diverse workforce and was instrumental in establishing the company’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. He was selected to work alongside Red Hat CIO Mike Kelly as lead of the Program Management Office supporting Red Hat’s acquisition by IBM. In 2019, he was selected as a winner of the General H. Hugh Shelton Chairman’s Award, one of Red Hat’s highest honors. In his spare time, Clarence is very passionate about genealogy and family research and is an avid college basketball and tennis fan.

Pamela Passman

Pamela Passman is a corporate and philanthropic leader with deep expertise in technology, risk management, organizational purpose and impact, building talented teams and scaling operations globally. She is Senior Advisor, Office of the Executive Chairman, APCO Worldwide and affiliated with the Economics Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). She founded and led the Center for Responsible Enterprise and Trade (CREATe.org), which developed innovative approaches for enterprises to manage risks internally and with their value chains, focused on corporate integrity, cybersecurity and the protection of intellectual property and sensitive data. She was Vice-Chair of The Ethisphere Institute which sets the standards for measuring corporate integrity and culture. Pamela serves on the Board of Kinaxis, a Toronto-listed SAAS supply chain management company; the Board and as Vice-Chair of Kids In Need of Defense (supportkind.org); and the Board of Trustees and as Chair, Student Life Committee of Lafayette College. Pamela is the former Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Global Corporate and Regulatory Affairs, at Microsoft Corporation. She led Microsoft’s regulatory compliance and public policy work globally, and its philanthropy and corporate citizenship activities; earlier she was based in Japan for Microsoft and led the legal and corporate affairs organization in Asia, with a particular focus on Japan, South Korea and China. Prior to joining Microsoft, Pamela practiced law with Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. and Nagashima & Ohno in Tokyo, Japan. Pamela is recognized for her work and expertise in risk management, governance and compliance; cybersecurity and IP and data protection. She speaks and writes about these topics and embedding ESG and corporate purpose in organizations.

Licy Do Canto, a veteran of public policy, corporate strategy, health care communications and diversity and inclusion, is managing director of APCO Worldwide’s Washington D.C. office headquarters and mid-Atlantic region lead. A well respected expert in public health and health care policy, with nearly three decades of experience at the international, national, state and local levels across the nonprofit, philanthropic, corporate and government sectors, Mr. Do Canto is an accomplished, values-driven leader with unparalleled experience in developing and leading integrated public affairs campaigns combining strategic communications, public relations, political/legislative initiatives, policy, coalition building, grassroots efforts and advocacy. Mr. Do Canto has held a wide range of positions and has worked across diverse sectors and industries over the course of his successful career, making him uniquely qualified to understand and support leaders and organization to successfully navigate both the opportunities and the diplomatic, technical, and multifaceted industry challenges with which they are confronted. Mr. Do Canto has vast inside knowledge of the Washington political process, and deep substantive experience on a wide range of public policy issues from public health, health care and social impact to immigration, trade and economic development.
