Job Description

Become part of an innovative organization at the forefront of delivering strategic technology solutions for Medical Affairs and Health Impact (MHI). In the role of Business Systems Consultant, you will drive the transformation of complex business objectives into effective technology strategies, pairing big-picture vision with practical implementation. You will develop and execute technology roadmaps for Medical Engagement, supporting the advancement of the Medical Omnichannel strategy on a global scale. 

This position will be onsite Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week.  

Success in this role requires solid technical and functional expertise in digital technologies and an understanding of how integrated solutions drive business outcomes. You will collaborate within a highly matrixed environment to ensure proposed solutions deliver measurable value. 

This position oversees a diverse portfolio of technology projects, emphasizing global medical omnichannel initiatives that empower local medical teams. Working closely with stakeholders from both Medical and Commercial business and Business Technology Solutions, you will play an essential part in shaping impactful, collaborative outcomes. 

Primary Responsibilities/Duties: 

  • Collaborate with business partners to understand medical and technological requirements for integrated digital tactics.  
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications for technology delivery teams.  
  • Leads large key initiatives which may or may not be part of larger programs to ensure successful completion as well as ensuring the initiative delivers the results desired by the business.  
  • Develop and oversee comprehensive project plans, including scope, timeline, and resource allocation, ensuring cross-functional alignment. 
  • Utilize technical consulting skills to recommend and implement technology solutions that drive mutually beneficial business outcomes. 
  • Interacts well with diverse groups across business and technological functions and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators. 
  • Partner with cross-functional Business Technology Solutions team to understand existing Commercial solutions and identify medical requirements to incorporate in the digital ecosystem. 
  • Act as a single point of contact for Business Technology Solutions delivery related to Medical Affairs technology strategy and tools for Medical Omnichannel.  
  • Investigates and understands capabilities of existing systems and technologies already in use across the business area and similar and interconnected business areas in AbbVie and investigates available technologies applied to this business area in industry; identifies information required to support the business strategy and leads the development of appropriate information management strategies, developing them as an integrated part of the business strategy. 
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills by dissecting complex situations to pinpoint key underlying issues. 
  • Applies critical inquiry by utilizing probing questions, 'what if' scenarios, and clarification techniques to identify and resolve business challenges.  
  • Facilitates workshops and discovery sessions to align teams, driving consensus on requirements and priorities.  
  • Maps and analyzes workflows to identify process inefficiencies and gaps, recommending actionable improvements. 
  • Makes recommendations to process stakeholders regarding the correct approach to achieve process improvement objectives. These may include business process outsourcing, application development or adopting business process management (BPM) practices. 
  • Allies with other BTOs to remain current on project status and inform customer management of progress; conversely, keeps BTS managers aware of user issues and resolves conflicts.  Identifies the impact of any relevant statutory, internal or external regulations on the organization's use of information. 
  • Promote a positive team culture, fostering innovation and open communication across diverse, matrixed teams. 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable AbbVie policies and procedures, staying informed of technological trends and conducting necessary technical research. 
  • Provide visibility and status updates to business and technology leadership on project benefits, costs, and risks. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7 years’ experience or Master's Degree with 6 years' experience OR PhD with 2 years' experience
  • Experience in Business Analysis and Project Management within Information Technology 
  • Consulting experience ideally within life sciences or healthcare industries
  • In-depth experience partnering with pharmaceutical Medical Affairs, brand teams, or commercial stakeholders to support business objectives
  • Demonstrated expertise implementing innovative digital solutions, including omnichannel engagement strategies and scientific content delivery across diverse platforms
  • Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional project teams within global, matrixed environments, driving collaboration and operational success
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for building relationships and influencing across all levels of the organization
  • Strong working knowledge of key IT methodologies, such as Waterfall, Agile, and DevOps, and their application in regulated healthcare environments
  • Experience working with financial portfolios and budgets
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to expertly multitask and optimize resource allocation in a dynamic, fast-paced setting

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.   • We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.​

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
