Job Duties and Qualifications
Material science is critical to the success of Halliburton Drill Bits and so when you apply your experience in materials science to this role at Halliburton, you gain the opportunity to advance your career. We are looking for an outstanding candidate capable of innovating improvements for our material systems and manufacturing processes. You will collaborate with engineers, vendors and customers to innovate new ideas to improve our products as well as solve critical process issues.
Responsibilities:
• Lead Development Projects: Manage development projects for matrix powders, binders, and hard facing materials, ensuring timely and successful completion.
• Oversee Processes: Direct development projects for welding, infiltration, and other thermal processes, leading cross-functional teams to deliver results.
• Operations Support: Address materials-related field problems, leading efforts to improve products and services.
• Engage with Vendors: Utilize material knowledge of forging, heat treatment, and steel production to write specifications, qualify new parts, and partner with vendors.
• Resolve Issues: Offer expert guidance and ongoing support to the manufacturing team for welding, hard facing, brazing, and infiltration processes using both technical knowledge and statistic data analysis
• Characterize Materials: Lead the characterization of PDC cutters, WC powders and steel alloys using state-of-the-art analytical equipment
• Improve Designs: Conduct failure analyses and propose design improvements.
• Operate Equipment: Oversee the use of mechanical and analytical testing equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
Requirements:
• An undergraduate degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Ceramics, Materials Science or similar discipline, and 4 years of related experience.
• Completion of a Master's degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or similar discipline is preferred.
• Certification as a licensed Professional is also preferred.
Candidates with qualifications exceeding the minimum job requirements will be considered for higher-level positions based on their experience, additional job requirements, and current business needs. Depending on their education, experience, and skill level, candidates may be eligible for a range of job opportunities, including positions ranging from Senior Material Science Engineer, Principal Material Science Engineer to Advisor Material Science Engineer.
