As part of the JSEL Global Team, the foremost responsibility of the Proof of Concept Engineer is to support Proof-of-Concept (POC) testing in their designated technology area(s). The Engineer must be capable of configuring complex functions on the applicable Juniper platforms, have thorough knowledge of at least two test equipment vendors’ products, and be able to translate customer test plans into a functional environment meeting the specified requirements. Advanced troubleshooting skills and knowledge of test plan development are required. Other tasks involve customer demonstrations, technical presentations, and technical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge in one or more Juniper technology areas through technical training and/or reading of product documentation and reviewing NPI developments.
- Mist and Apstra knowledge is highly desirable.
- Assist the Manager in the review, negotiation, and approval of proof-of-concept test plans submitted by account teams.
- Develop optimized proof-of-concept test configurations based on test plans submitted by account teams and available resources.
- Manage the allocated POC staging time to allow for test plan refinement, configuration adjustments, and resolution of hardware problems or software bugs.
- Provide timely escalations to JSEL/POC management regarding risks to success.
- Support POC visits by accounts teams, customers, and partners via thorough preparation, successful presentation, and management of all technical aspects of the POC.
- Maintain all POC test data on the appropriate documentation library.
- Develop technical papers based on customer testing experience.
- Design, develop, document and present guided demonstrations of new functionality, particularly for use within Juniper Cloud Labs and Reference POC Test Plans
- Review and comment on NPI developments to POC management and/or the appropriate product management team.
- Achieve and maintain JNCIP and JNCIE certification in the selected technology area.
- This position requires extensive hands-on lab work, excellent presentation and writing skills, the ability to travel, and customer awareness skills.
- The Systems Engineer must be a motivated engineer wanting to work at the cutting edge of networking technologies, enjoy hands-on testing, and customer interaction.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in engineering/computer science/telecommunications with at least 5 years of experience in the networking industry or 10 years equivalent work experience.
- Hold JNCIE or equivalent qualifications.
- Advanced knowledge of test plan methodologies.
- Mastery of Juniper CLI and/or network management commands for products in the selected technology area(s).
- Excellent presentation and technical writing skills.
- Creative assessment of customer network design solutions for the selected technology area(s).
- GUI proficiency and scripting knowledge for at least two test vendors used for testing of Juniper products in the selected technology area(s).
- Advanced knowledge of protocols and architectures used in at least one key technology, such as Service Provider, Data Centre and Security
- Advanced troubleshooting skills.
Minimum Salary: $144,000.00
Maximum Salary:$207,000.00
The pay range for this position is expected to be between $144,000.00 and $207,000.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Juniper’s pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
