DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented On Site Service Technician - Level II to join our team specializing in Service for our Service in Solwezi, Zambia.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Customer Satisfaction: By engaging customers courteously and professionally, you’ll ensure their needs are met promptly and efficiently, enhancing their overall experience.
- Efficient Repairs: Utilizing specialized tools and following documented procedures, you’ll diagnose and complete less complex repairs accurately, minimizing downtime for customers.
- Preventative Maintenance: Coaching customer employees on preventative maintenance and basic repairs will help them maintain their equipment better, reducing future issues.
- Problem Escalation: By escalating unresolved issues to more experienced technicians or supervisors, you’ll ensure complex problems are addressed promptly, maintaining service quality.
- Accurate Documentation: Completing required documentation accurately will support warranty claims, quality control, and service records, contributing to operational efficiency.
- Continuous Learning: Completing training in line with skill and business requirements will keep you updated with the latest techniques and knowledge, improving your service delivery.
- Workplace Safety: Maintaining a clean and properly functioning work area and tools will ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Compliance and Reporting: Adhering to Health, Safety & Environmental policies and reporting any issues will help maintain compliance and address potential hazards proactively.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Strong Diagnostic Skills: Ability to translate customer complaints into effective troubleshooting plans using mechanical and electronic service tools, and diagnostic software to isolate and resolve issues accurately.
- Comprehensive System Knowledge: Understanding of internal and external electrical and mechanical systems, and the ability to interpret and analyze their interactions to diagnose and repair efficiently.
- Technical Proficiency in Repairs: Proficiency in repairing and maintaining mechanical/electrical products, following guidelines and using the required tools to ensure quality repairs and minimize customer costs.
- Effective Escalation and Documentation: Skill in escalating technical issues appropriately, utilizing data management tools, and documenting troubleshooting steps accurately to ensure seamless transitions and timely resolutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Experience:
- Apprentice Certified Power Generation or Engine Technician (Preferred)
- Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
- Current relevant electrical certification (optional)
- EIZ Certified - Engineering Institute of Zambia Certification
- Locally valid driving permit
- Basic level field service work experience
- Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation or engine products
- High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience (optional)
- Customer service experience
- Experience with Cummins Engines or comparable engine systems is required
- Must possess experience in engine dismantling within a workshop environment
- Must have experience with high horsepower engines
