Stryker is hiring a Senior Design Engineer for our Stryker Sage Medical division in Cary, IL to drive the design, development, and launch of high-quality medical device components by leading cross-functional collaboration, translating user needs into detailed specifications, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Workplace Flexibility: Candidate must reside within a commutable
distance to Cary, IL but is expected to be onsite at the facility multiple times/week. Team usually works onsite Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with a remote option on Thursday and Friday’s.
What you will do:
- Independently research, design, develop, and verify components and modules for medical devices, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Support and execute segments of complex, cross-functional projects throughout the design, development, and launch phases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build partnerships and align with business objectives, leveraging deep understanding of customer needs and market insights.
- Translate user needs into design specifications, contributing to complex system-level designs and leading prototyping and testing initiatives.
- Analyze and address complex design issues, applying clinical knowledge and independent judgment to develop robust solutions.
- Lead engineering documentation creation, including the Design History File, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor others on R&D procedures, such as design controls, risk management, and usage of industry standards.
- Demonstrate growing financial acumen, supporting Voice of Customer sessions with clinicians and internal teams.
What you will need
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Science or Engineering discipline preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
- 2+ years of professional experience in an engineering role (preferably in R&D or Quality), with strong technical skills in developing and optimizing mechanical designs, including the integration of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Strong technical ability in creating engineering drawings, models, applying GD&T and CAE tools
- Adept at applying knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to product design.
- Ability to communicate moderate complexity plans and technical information to team members.
