Job Details
The Geoprocessing Services development team builds ArcGIS software functionality used to publish and run geoprocessing tools and analytical workflows remotely using ArcGIS servers and client web applications. We’re looking for a new team member to help with software design, testing, and technical writing tasks related to web tools (geoprocessing services). You will have the opportunity to coordinate requirements between development teams working on ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and more, and respond to user requirements by entering bugs, features, and enhancement issues for software developers to work on. As a member of our development team, you will help build software used by thousands of organizations around the world to analyze and map geospatial data! We need a colleague with great communication skills, attention to detail, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, and strong technical capacity.
Responsibilities- Become a geoprocessing services and ArcGIS Enterprise technology expert and use your expertise to help software users successfully share analysis tools as a service
- Collaborate with teammates to build software that is user-friendly, has good performance, and produces correct results (or meaningful errors)
- Coordinate requirements from multiple internal and external sources and communicate them to the team. Then help make decisions about how to address these requirements
- Troubleshoot issues related to publishing and running web tools, ModelBuilder models, and Python scripts in current and past software versions of ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise
- Design, write, and maintain automated test cases in Python and C# to ensure quality and performance
- Analyze testing results to determine pass/fail status, and report results in a timely and consistent manner
- Write clear and concise help documentation topics that allows users to understand complex software capabilities and troubleshoot potential problems
- Create compelling supplemental material that educates users on the capabilities built by the team, including sample services and applications, blogs, tutorials, and videos
- Knowledge of geoprocessing, Python, and ModelBuilder capabilities in ArcGIS, expressed through a portfolio, website, or other description of related work and projects
- 2+ years of professional experience writing Python code
- Verbal and written communication skills suitable for a professional environment
- Ability to confidently present and demonstrate ArcGIS functionality in-person and online to groups of colleagues and the user community
- Bachelor's or master's in GIS, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and Server
- General knowledge of ArcPy, the Python library for ArcGIS
- Experience publishing services and sharing content from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online
- Knowledge of web technologies including HTML, Javascript, REST, and others
- Experience with C#
