Meet The Speakers

Matthew McCullough
Matthew McCullough
Senior Vice President of Product

My extensive experience in the software consulting industry started with independently building two commercially successful desktop apps in prior to high school. I've been producing many profitable and successful desktop, server, and web solutions for clients in the years since, and now, lead technical teams on these same successful journeys.

Currently, I lead the Professional Services efforts at GitHub as the Director of Field Services. This diversely skilled department includes dozens of team members on the Sales Engineering, Implementations, and Training teams. It's a privilege to apply my passion for open source, experience in enterprise software development, and ideas for the future of distributed collaboration alongside my amazingly talented colleagues.

I have a demonstrated track record of success in applying agile methodologies to software development. I also spend a great deal of time in studying and applying marketing techniques, such as those put forth by Seth Godin, to software development. The net result has been highly marketable, and thus profitable solutions for my clients.

I'm a contributing author to the Version Control with Git, Building and Testing with Gradle and Jenkins: The Definitive Guide O’Reilly books and creator of the Git Master Class series for O’Reilly. I've spoken regularly on the No Fluff Just Stuff conference tour, authored the DZone Git RefCard, and was founder and a past President of the Denver Open Source Users Group.

Maya Ross
Maya Ross
Senior Product Director

A senior product leader, with a record of launching and scaling products in high-growth startups and enterprises. Thriving in entrepreneurial environments, I create focus, clarity and consensus across teams.

Most recently led the creation of the UK's biggest personalisation and identity platform for the BBC, and played a key role in the company's digital transformation. Previously, as the first commercial hire at YC backed GoCardless, I built product, sales and growth to help the company grow by 30% month on month.

With a Physics degree from Oxford and a background in consulting, I am quick to analyse data and understand complex trade-offs. I combine this with a strong technical understanding to create well-rounded product and growth strategies.

A natural people person, I love to bring my team and stakeholders together around any problem.
