We are living in a time where all of us are waking up to what’s happening in the world. And as we awaken as WOC, each of us is being called to reconsider our views on what power and success really mean. We’re being challenged to look at our families, organizations and institutions and within those halls -who has been entitled to achieve versus who hasn’t.
We are being invited to revisit what we thought was “true” about things we’ve taken for granted—from the quality of our leadership to the potential of our children. But nowhere are we more challenged, or more called, than in how we’re being forced to look at ourselves—who we are versus who we want to be. We’re being asked to defy the odds and push against the status quo in honor of a more authentic and powerful existence. But do we really have permission?
In this provocative conversation, we will share about:
- The importance of community
- The need to create brave, safe, new spaces to harness our collective power, to align with our purpose, and to lead as our whole selves
Deepa Purushothaman was a “first” Senior Partner at Deloitte and has spent years focusing on women’s leadership and inclusion strategies to help women of color navigate corporate structures. Rha Goddess left corporate America and the chemical industry as an “only” two decades ago to focus on helping leaders find their passion, purpose and calling. She has helped hundreds of high impact leaders realize they can work in ways that honor their values and uplift new definitions of power, profitability and success. Together, Deepa and Rha have discovered that there is a collective untapped power that WOC have yet to harness at work so they co-founded nFormation, a membership community for professional women of color.
Meet The Speakers
Rha Goddess is THE entrepreneurial soul coach behind hundreds of breakthrough changemakers, cultural visionaries, and social entrepreneurs. In 2011 Rha founded Move The Crowd, an entrepreneurial training company dedicated to creative and cultural entrepreneurs working at the intersection of values, profitability and social impact.
Rha's book is The Calling: 3 Fundamental Shifts to Stay True, Get Paid, and Do Good. The paperback is coming out in January 2021.
Deepa is an author, speaker and the cofounder of nFormation. She is also a WAPPP Leader in Practice at the Harvard Kennedy School where her primary focus area of research is systemic racism and the advancement of women of color in corporate America. Deepa is using this research to write a book with Harper Collins on women of color in corporate America.
Deepa is currently writing a book called The Firsts, The Fews and the Onlys: Why Women of Color Need to Redefine Power in Corporate America, which will be published by Harper Collins next year.
