Context: there is a salary range for a certain position, the company makes an offer on the lower end of the range and you try to negotiate on the higher end and they make a final offer closer to the mid-range. You ask what type of skills and/or experience would be required to be on that upper end (to understand if this would be achievable in 6 months, 1 year, etc.) and no specific answer is provided (e.g. "it depends on too many factors"): what should be the best reaction to this? Can salary ranges be used when a company is actually aware that they will not give an offer on the upper range?
