Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.
Background on the Position
The role is within the FRM’s Credit Risk Management department as part of the Financial Institutions Credit coverage team, dedicated to supporting the Firm’s Securitized Products Lending and Fixed Income trading business. The business coverage includes transaction management and approval of highly structured lending across a wide range of financial assets and counterparty risk management of financial institution counterparties, including banks, broker dealers, insurance companies and specialty finance companies.
Primary Responsibilities
The principal responsibilities of the role include the evaluation borrowers and transactions, as well as the monitoring and maintenance of existing loans and counterparty portfolios. Fulfillment of these responsibilities involves:
• Manage and assess new lending and trading transactions. This includes the assessment and recommendation of credit rating and risk appetite of the counterparty and proposed transaction.
• Provide recommendations on structure including covenants, transaction trigger events and termination events.
• Present to Credit Senior management for discussion and approval of large transactions.
• Monitor and manage financial health of coverage counterparties, including handling of rolls, amendments and waivers
