What does an Account Executive, Islamic Banking does at Visa ?
As the Account Executive for Islamic Banking, you will be at the forefront of driving Visa’s growth and innovation amongst the Islamic financial institutions in Malaysia. This pivotal role involves leading the end-to-end sales and business development strategy for the Islamic segment which includes a diverse range of clients such as issuers, acquirers, Islamic digital banks and other partners. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of Shariah Compliant digital finance in Malaysia.
This role has a broad focus spanning Visa’s three strategic focus areas of Core (Consumer Payments), Commercial & Money Movement Solutions (B2B & Corporate Payments), and Value-Added Services (such as Advisory, CyberSource, Loyalty Solutions, Data and Risk solutions and more). In this role you will have the opportunity to develop an all-round perspective of the way Visa works and partner with a diverse client set, generating a significant contribution to Visa’s revenue in Malaysia. Success in the role requires identifying and pursuing sales opportunities while working well with a multitude of cross functional external and internal stakeholders to execute on identified sales opportunities.
This role will also serve as the Islamic banking subject matter expert, supporting the design and development of Shariah -compliant payment solutions , debit and credit products and digital solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Grow revenue and share with Islamic FI clients across Consumer, CMS and Acquiring business areas, while also supporting Ecosystems and Regional partnership opportunities.
- Drive and secure Value-added Services VIK revenue with the client across Products, advisory and consulting, marketing services, risk, operations and more.
- Deal ownership and execution, partner closely with Islamic FI clients to keep track of deal terms and incentives utilization, to ensure their contractual targets and obligations are met or exceeded.
- Project management of key engagements with clients in the Consumer, CMS, Acquiring, Ecosystems and all relevant areas of clients’ business.
- Lead superior engagement with clients while also overseeing the day-to-day aspects across various client initiatives.
- Leading and delivering of Quarterly Business Review with client stakeholders to review performance, identify gaps, provide recommendations and execute action items to grow business and revenue.
- Utilize a consultative sales approach that ensures Visa is familiar with the strategies and issues of the client and tailor Visa's engagement to address those needs.
- Develop a clear account plan and track it closely, drive engagements/collaboration with key stakeholders to deliver on these plans.
Qualifications
What you will need:
- 10 years of relevant business experience with related business development account management experience in the payments industry or similar experience in consultative or solution selling
- Proven track record in managing Islamic banking, product management or financial services
- Strong understanding of Shariah governance standards and product guidelines
- Experience in managing large accounts or portfolios independently (consulting advisory, marketing, sales, product development/management and/or operations)
- Deep knowledge of payment industry, specifically in the Consumer, Commercial and Money Movement areas and digital payments
- Strong client relationship management skills and being able to lead opportunities with senior clients independently across various business areas
- Demonstrated track record of planning, managing and closing a complex, competitive sales efforts
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to establish effective relationships with all levels including executive management
- Ability to negotiate business agreements and to enhance existing and develop new business partnerships
- Demonstrated aptitude in understanding and building business models
- Demonstrated ability to run financial analysis to evaluate business opportunities and suggest strategic option
What will also help:
- Previous experience in developing and launching Shariah-complaint financial services
- Understanding of the technical aspects of digital payment solutions to effectively communicate with clients and internal teams
- Familiarity with Islamic banking community in Malaysia and the broader region.
