Skills and Competencies- Looking for 3+ yrs of strong quantitative aptitude with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and succinctly.
- Solid understanding of model development, design, implementation, and calibration practices.
- Proficiency in C#, Python, VBA, MATLAB, or similar programming languages.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical, organizational, and project‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong understanding of core Generative AI principles and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate globally and work across time zones.
- Master’s or PhD in Finance, Financial Engineering, Mathematical Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Collaborate with multiple business lines and stakeholders to support methodology development across Structured Finance and Fundamental asset classes.
- Design, develop, calibrate and maintain credit rating models and scorecards used in Moody’s ratings process.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation throughout model development and calibration, ensuring transparency, replicability, and adherence to verification/validation standards.
- Research econometric, statistical, and mathematical techniques to enhance and evaluate model performance.
- Author or co‑author white papers to highlight modeling rigor, research depth, and methodological transparency for external audiences.
- Participate in training sessions for analytical staff.
- Support junior team members by offering guidance and training, to build their skills and encourage collaboration.
- Build strong working relationships with analytical teams; independently lead and manage stakeholder interactions for methodology projects.
- Mentor and guide junior team members to support their development and promote collaboration.
- Collaborate across global time zones as needed to support project delivery and stakeholder coordination.
- Our Model Calibration & Analytics team within CSS is responsible for developing, calibrating, and maintaining all credit rating models and scorecards that underpin Moody’s Ratings’ analytical methodologies.
