As a Global Trade Compliance organization, we are committed to driving and pioneering best-in-class trade compliance practices in a dynamic global environment.
This role is an important GTC team member which is highly visible and a strategic position that ensures adherence with International Trade Law and local regulations, improves operational efficiency and facilitates reduction of tariff and non-tariff barriers. The primary focus will be oversight of activities at AbbVie’s French Manufacturing facilities, but this role will also support the other EU sites with tactical and compliance activities.
By leveraging their expertise and collaborating with various cross-functional teams, this role helps optimize trade compliance operations, enhance decision-making, and mitigate risks. Their contributions are instrumental in shaping the future of our trade compliance function and supporting AbbVie's mission to improve the lives of individuals worldwide.
- Establish and maintain localized operational import and export procedures
- Interface with local site management and other internal/external partners to ensure all import/export transactions are in compliance with EU Customs Law
- Act as primary point of contact with customs and any other government agencies to address request for audit and inspections
- Provide support for external reviews and investigations/audits to help minimize any adverse impact to the company
- Manage the daily import/export operational activities and resolve day-to-day import/export/customs issues that result in border delays
- Oversee financial and operational trade metrics and analysis, develop solution/strategies to issues or opportunities
- Conduct training and knowledge sharing to improve business knowledge and operational performance and ensure compliance with importing/exporting regulations
- Engage with our customs broker and support management of the relationship and performance management
- Assess and initiate import/export/duty management projects and or any Special Trade Programs that focus on driving efficiencies or cost savings (e.g. Inward Processing)
- Monitor and align with relevant GTC partners on trade compliance regulatory and legislative changes that may impact on our manufacturing operations and alert the appropriate parties internally to the potential impact on the business
- Support the site when Other Governmental Agency licenses/permits/authorizations are required for import and export activities
- Diploma / University degree in a related field. (e.g., international trade, supply chain, logistics, legal are preferred)
- At least 3 years of experience working in a customs agent/broker’s agency, multinational company, consulting firm, pharmaceutical company or logistics service provider preferred
- Knowledge of EU import/export regulations and activities, etc.
- Experience with global trade software platforms (e.g. SAP Global Trade Services module)
- Strong planning, time management, and organizational skills with ability to multitask
- Strong interpersonal skills, enjoys working in a collaborative team environment and has the ability to train and lead others
- Proficiency in French is very welcome; Business-level in German and English is a must
