Senior Data Engineer (Data Platform), your role entails working closely with various teams and leveraging your expertise in data engineering to create and sustain a resilient and high-performing data platform that caters to the organization's data requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, optimize, and maintain a Data Platform that enables teams to build complex batch and streaming processes for moving and transforming data across both operational and analytic systems
- Drive platform architecture decisions, lead design reviews, and collaborate with cross-functional partners (Product Managers, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Software Engineers, Business teams) to build data products and enhance the data platform
- Contribute to the development and optimization of our Event Driven Architecture, adding new features, improving performance, and enhancing user experience
- Champion code quality, reusability, scalability, security and help make strategic architecture decisions
- Implement processes and tools to ensure data quality, enforce data governance policies, and uphold engineering best practices
- Develop APIs and Microservices to expose and integrate data products with software systems
- Completed BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or other related field
- 5+ years in data engineering building production-grade pipelines and platform capabilitiesacross batch and streaming
- Experience with various tools and technologies employed in Data Processing, Storage,Cataloging, Observability, and Governance
- Strong SQL and either Python or Typescript
- Experience in assessing and implementing new data tools and frameworks to enhance thedata engineering stack and developer experience
- In-depth knowledge of data platform development, data warehousing, and data integration
- Knowledge of DevOps principles, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containers/Kubernetes, Git-based workflows and CI/CD
- Experience with architecting solutions on AWS or equivalent public cloud platforms.
- Experience with developing data APIs, Microservices, and event driven systems
- Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (Airflow / Temporal)
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Building self-service platforms
- Ingestion/CDC/streaming: Kafka/MSK, Fivetran, Debezium
- Experience working with protected HIPAA / PHI data
- Data quality, lineage, and observability practices; incident response and reliability engineering
- Experience building ELT / ETL pipelines and data modeling
- Familiarity with Snowflake, RDS, dbt, Airflow, Temporal, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform,DataDog, and Data Governance tools
