Purpose
The Senior Financial Analyst supports the financial planning and analysis processes and requirements across multiple collaborations supported by the Alliances team. Prepares management analysis of actual vs. benchmark results, prepares cost share settlements and financial analysis for partners, and implements process improvements for direct area of responsibility. In addition, supports our BD team with building R&D cost models used to evaluate external BD opportunities, interacting cross-functionally with Business Development & Alliances, Search & Evaluation, Corporate BD Finance, and several other R&D functions to build accurate and timely models. Additionally, this role interacts with other R&D finance teams through LBE reporting, monthly BD/Alliances update meetings, and supporting BD projects post deal execution
Responsibilities
- Develops monthly, quarterly, and annual Plan, LRP, and LBEs as required, using planning system and incorporating review changes of both financial and operating management.
- Operates independently to prepare relevant variance analysis for each planning cycle and develops meaningful management reporting schedules for direct areas supported.
- Works directly with Accounting Shared Service contact on monthly close process and financial reporting to ensure complete, accurate and timely monthly actual results, including analysis and commentary for P&L variances. Understands monthly results and communicates issues vs. benchmark to businesses and partner companies supported to agree on resolution or action plan.
- Provides management of AbbVie and partner companies with clear insights into drivers of business and financial performance and risk; assesses business/market opportunities and informs/recommends prioritization decisions.
- Prepares R&D cost models for BD assessments, collaborating with cross functional contacts to collect model assumptions and cost estimates.
- Assists Finance Manager with Monthly BD Update meetings by developing relevant content and presenting to finance leadership.
- Manages multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Leads ad hoc analysis, projects and processes improvements as needed.
Bachelor’s degree required. Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
4+ years of progressive and related experience in Finance and/or Accounting.
Execute priorities established by Manager with speed and agility.
Strong financial, analytical and problem solving skills.
Proficient Excel skills required.
Knowledge of SAP and BPC a plus.
