The Manager, Global Security Policy is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the department's policy, governance, and compliance frameworks. This Individual Contributor role ensures organizational alignment with global industry standards, AbbVie requirements, and best practices in security management. The Manager leads the creation, regular review, and systematic updating of security policies, governance documents, and administrative standards, and oversees the organization and accessibility of these materials within the company’s document repository systems. As a secondary responsibility, the Manager supports departmental training initiatives to reinforce policy adoption and compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the design, integration, and ongoing review/enhancement of security policies, standards, guidelines, and governance programs, ensuring alignment with global and regional requirements. Identify and address gaps in policies, procedures, or compliance frameworks through periodic reviews and stakeholder feedback.
- Act as a Consultant and Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Legal, Human Resources, EHS, IT, Quality, Engineering, and Compliance—as well as external regulatory bodies and public service agencies, to ensure effective policy development and implementation.
- Manage and optimize document repositories and administrative tools for efficient storage, retrieval, and version control of governance materials. Oversee the Global Security SharePoint deployment and lifecycle.
- Leverage advanced technologies (e.g., AI tools, databases) to streamline document management, policy development processes, and regulatory reporting.
- Participate in project management initiatives related to policy and governance, ensuring stakeholder participation and timely execution.
- Support the design and delivery of innovative training programs and support materials, collaborating with the key stakeholders to enhance security staff’s understanding of policies and governance requirements.
- Create and implement policy, raise awareness, and enhance adoption and engagement among stakeholders. Lead initiatives to design, develop, train, and execute policy-related programs.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence and compliance through continuous improvement of governance processes, communication, and training initiatives.
- Maintain a working knowledge of major security program domains (Business Principles, Security Management, Crisis Management, Investigations, Physical Security, Personnel) and their programs, governance considerations, and evolving industry risks and standards.
- This role demands an individual with a proven ability to navigate the complexities of global security within a pharmaceutical setting, supporting strategic initiatives that align with AbbVie’s operational goals, culture and core values.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Degree program or professional certification in Communications, Training, Learning and Development or a related field is beneficial.
- 5+ years of experience in program management, preferably developing and overseeing policy, compliance, or governance programs within a global security environment. Pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred.
- Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge of enterprise Learning Management Systems, and Ultrus ComplianceWire specifically, is preferred.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, security operations, and risk management practices.
- Experience with document management systems, policy tracking tools, and associated emerging technologies.
- Ability to work collaboratively across diverse functions and cultures, navigating complex global environments.
- Strong understanding of international physical security standards and regulatory compliance.
- SharePoint administration skills are preferred.
- Familiarity with AI tools and their application in document control and policy gap analysis preferred.
- Experience with policy and governance auditing and compliance preferred.
