As a Data Engineer, you will work across the data stack and contribute to designing and implementing data‑driven business solutions using modern Big Data and analytics technologies.
As we continue our journey to build and expand our Data Lake, we are looking for a Data Engineer who is eager to learn, contribute hands‑on, and grow into data architecture and advanced engineering responsibilities.
This role involves significant hands‑on development.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, development, and implementation of data engineering solutions under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Contribute to the development of new data products by building small POCs and enhancing existing pipelines.
- Develop and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using tools such as Hive, Spark, and Python within a Hadoop ecosystem.
- Support the development of analytical and reporting applications using open‑source and packaged Big Data technologies.
- Build and maintain reliable data pipelines to support reporting, analytics, and data science/ML use cases.
- Follow best practices to deliver high‑quality, well‑tested, and maintainable code.
- Support activities related to data governance, data security, system infrastructure, and cross‑team initiatives as needed.
- Continuously learn and adopt new tools, technologies, and frameworks relevant to data engineering.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
1-3 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD).
Preferred Qualifications:
Hands on experience building data driven applications or pipelines.
Exposure to Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, or Kafka.
Working knowledge of Python, Java, or Scala.
Basic experience with relational databases (MS SQL, MySQL, DB2) and/or NoSQL systems.
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and distributed data processing.
Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, or Artifactory is a plus.
Experience or academic exposure to data visualization/BI tools like Power BI is a plus.
Familiarity with Databricks, ClickHouse, or Microsoft Fabric is advantageous.
Strong problem solving skills and a willingness to learn in a fast paced environment.
