Visual Investigations Producer, Iran - Reuters

Reuters is looking for an experienced and resourceful Farsi-speaking visual investigations producer to report on Iran. With the Iranian authorities facing discontent at home and threats abroad, you will have the energy and enthusiasm to dig into what is happening on the ground inside Iran, while working remotely from outside.
Based in Dubai, you will have the news judgement to deliver breaking news and the determination to produce revealing stories whether a video report, visual scoop or rich multimedia investigation. A team player, you will have the perseverance to find a way through when reporting obstacles emerge.
You will have deep OSINT journalism skills, with the ability to sift through social media clips, satellite imagery and other virtual reporting tools to determine what's real or fake and have strong news editing and storytelling skills to pull the strands together. You will work closely with the Reuters visual verification team and will be expected to cultivate sources on the ground. You will be able to multi-task, juggling several stories at a time, and work with our investigative reporting teams on longer term items.
Having strong visual and writing skills, you will work with colleagues across the newsroom and around the world, including with video producers who will help build your visual storytelling skills and with other editors and correspondents to deliver rich, multimedia content.
Fluent English and Farsi are requirements for this position.
About the Role
As our Visual Investigations Producer for Iran, you will:
Show strong news judgement and resourcefulness in visual-led newsgathering to deliver visual scoops, strong pitches and stories ranging from breaking news to longer term items
Be keen to work with teams of colleagues across the newsroom and in other bureaus in video, photos or text to report in a range of formats
Have a track record in investigative reporting and the ability to build sources inside Iran
Have strong OSINT skills and be ready to hone techniques to verify posts and other UGC material for accurate use in standing up and building stories.
Be keen to learn how to use Reuters visuals and other editorial systems to build editing, scripting, writing and other skills
Have a deep commitment to unbiased, well-sourced and thoroughly verified reporting and an unswerving commitment to the Reuters Trust Principles.
Have fluent English and Farsi.
About You
To be our Visual Investigations Producer, Iran, you likely have:
At least five years’ experience in professional journalism with a focus on visuals reporting
A deep understanding of Iran and the international dynamics driving news about the country
The ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
A willingness to travel on assignment, including at short notice and to hostile environments
Solid planning and organizational skills
