Citi Commercial Bank (“CCB”) UAE’s Industrials team covers UAE-headquartered Mid-Corporate companies with a global footprint and annual revenue ranging from $100MM to $3BN.
This role is a senior banker position, accountable for direct business results which include client and portfolio level meeting returns, driving topline growth, budgeting, planning, contribution to future strategy of the business and building a client relationship that leverages the product and geographic breadth of Citi.
This requires in-depth understanding of how own sub-function contributes to achieving the objectives of the business. A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. The banker is an expert at understanding a client’s financial performance and participates actively in the credit underwriting process. This individual understands how clients capitalize themselves, is highly knowledgeable about the debt capital markets, and knows how to position the bank to compete for lead capital markets roles. This strategic player is also well-versed in building consensus internally and managing the risk management/credit committee discussions. The Senior banker has outstanding communication skills that are leveraged, both internally and externally to develop dialogue with clients and deliver the global Citi platform to the client, drive out-sized wallet capture, and exceed return hurdles. This individual should have a very strong understanding of the full product capabilities of the bank and understand how best to position against our competition

Responsibilities:
- Supporting the formulation and execution of the growth strategy and plan for the CCB UAE team. Strategically and tactically drive the growth of their portfolio and business by capturing wallet from existing clients and with a strong bias towards new to bank origination of multi-product and multi-country mandates from clients, within CCB UAE target market.
- “Be the Best” for our clients’ by understanding and delivering on clients’ holistic treasury and strategic agenda. Be responsible for Client-level planning, budget and revenue responsibilities
- Understand and follow trends within the industry to provide thought leadership to clients
- Drive innovation on the solutions we provide clients through partnerships with product specialists and subject matter experts, while structuring deals that balance risk and reward
- This banker is responsible for actively calling on clients to deepen relationships and proactively owning, responding to and anticipating future needs, challenges or risks, in addition to identifying and pursuing new clients aligned with CCB’s value proposition.
- Attracting, retaining and motivating a team, along with responsibility for managing a budget and meeting team sales goals.
- Substantial execution experience on complex deals with a proven ability to lead a deal team process. Oversee the credit relationship of the client, coordinating and supervising the entire process, ensuring the proper application of policies and institutional processes
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills (e.g. negotiation, consultative skills, leadership). Ability to work effectively in team setting
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of banking experience.
- In-depth knowledge of all aspects of commercial banking, including strong commercial credit knowledge and an ability to quickly learn new products and services.
- Possesses sound judgment and is creative in providing solutions to bank clients, across the entire set of Citi capabilities (including TTS, markets, lending and episodic).
- Ability to demonstrate understanding of industry dynamics, future trends, client needs and industry- focused solutions.
- Significant experience with commercial credit decision making authority, with experience in complex capital structures and cross border transactions.
- Intermediate level credit skills with the capability to demonstrate advanced level credit skills to be appointed a Senior Credit Officer.
- Ability to work effectively in team setting.
- Able to effectively interact with a variety of internal and external constituencies.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams through complex change; a reputation for retaining, attracting and developing talent.
- Proven leadership ability with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to express a sound opinion, able to agreeably present another viewpoint.
- Full management responsibility of a team, which may include management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary and terminations, and may include budget approval.
- Must have a sharp business development focus and demonstrate innovative approaches.
- Able to quickly adapt priorities based on the latest data insights.
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Masters degree preferred and managerial experience
