The Institutional Credit Management (ICM) team is a critical component of Citi’s First Line of Defense for wholesale lending and counterparty credit risk. It partners with businesses Citi-wide to ensure we have best-in-class risk and control capabilities. ICM also plays an important role in Citi’s Transformation efforts by helping to drive a Citi-wide focus on wholesale credit risk management. Through ongoing investment in processes, controls, systems, and governance, ICM continues to further embed consistency and best practices across Citi, driving closer alignment between our business and regulatory goals. Our goal is to
transform the end-to-end wholesale lending process and establish a consistent operating model with a focus on improved processes, controls, and enhanced technology to achieve best-in-class processing capabilities to support our client franchise.
The Business Simplification and Process Reengineering role will drive the re-alignment and re-engineering of Global Credit Risk Management Services (CRMS) within the ICM organization by analyzing processes, controls, policy, and procedures while providing solutions that will inform the simplification of the operating model. This position supports the strategic agenda and will require cross-functional collaboration with business, technology, and operational teams throughout the lifecycle of each initiative.
This includes developing robust controls, aligning policy, processes, and procedures, and leveraging – or adopting - technology to improve the overall risk control environment. This role will collaborate with transformation leads and other stakeholder across the enterprise to continuously evaluate the timeliness, effectiveness, and accuracy of the CRMS functions.
Proven expertise in risk management disciplines, and process simplification across the end-to-end wholesale lending lifecycle is required. Additionally, advanced communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide and influence stakeholders that include colleagues across other areas of the organization.
The suitable candidate is expected to be a self-starter and be comfortable to work with ambiguity under tight deadlines.
What you’ll do:
- Drives results for the wider team by managing cross country processes, identifying risks, opportunities and suggesting solutions
- Take ownership of tasks, initiatives and projects; manage them to their completion
- Oversees and manages team in ensuring accuracy and completeness of activities performed
- Reviews guidelines and regulations issued from time to time and ensure that requirements are met and gaps are remediated
- Structure a risk management-based approach with proven methodologies to serve as enablers to the successful execution of the organizational strategy
- Ensure initiatives align to the established control frameworks and are driving control automation, reducing reliance on manual solutions, and mitigating overall risk.
- Assist in performing a detailed analysis on the identification of issue root cause, partnering with control and process owners to recommendations holistic corrective actions and improvements, provide check and challenge to ensure appropriate escalation in according with Issue Management and Escalation Policies.
- Drive tactical and strategic planning to ensure the program corrective actions plans are met. This includes identifications, documentation, reviews of multiple before dissemination on a regular basis
- Support tracking of Issue Management (CAPs/Issues), and in-country audits from ideation to IA validation.
- Support teams in the quality, completeness, and accuracy of the implementation of the Control Framework, including Risk Control Policy, Control Standard, Issue Management Policy, Lesson Learned Policy and Control Inventory.

Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in strategy development and execution related with credit, lending, banking or regulatory projects.
- Strong wholesale lending product domain knowledge across including reference data across the various financial products.
- Strong understanding of key credit risk performance metrics, macroeconomic indicators, and general banking concepts.
- Experience with senior engagement management roles and program execution of significant scope in financial services for large organizations.
- History of partnering closely with, engineering, operations, and/or risk to drive change in an organization.
- Communication skills and ability to influence others and deliver clearly articulate presentations to senior leaders.
- Ability to work across all levels of management independently and effectively.
- Experience in defining controls or implementing policy changes.
