Job Title: Head of Core Banking Transformation
Are you looking for a career move that will put you at the heart of a global financial institution? Then bring your skills in large-scale technology transformation, strategic leadership, and core banking modernization to our global technology team.
By joining Citi, you will become part of a global organisation whose mission is to serve as a trusted partner to our clients by responsibly providing financial services that enable growth and economic progress.
Team/Role Overview
This is a senior technology leadership role responsible for spearheading one of the firm's most strategically important global modernization efforts. The team's mission is to transform our core banking capabilities, moving from legacy systems to a future-state digital banking platform that will be used worldwide.
Your role will be pivotal in this multi-year journey. You will lead the transformation across multiple strategic programs, initially focusing on the LATAM region to define the blueprint for a global rollout. On a day-to-day basis, you will work with senior partners across product management, business lines, operations, and technology to ensure the program realizes its business objectives and establishes a robust target state architecture.
What you'll do
As the Head of Core Banking Transformation, you will have end-to-end ownership for the execution and delivery of this critical initiative.
- Lead the modernization of our Core Banking platform, driving the migration from monolithic architectures to globally consistent microservices-based solutions.
- Lead, motivate, and manage a direct end-to-end program team while providing virtual oversight and direction to all associated delivery teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
- Establish and lead a robust governance framework, including chairing steering committees, managing senior stakeholder communications, preparing executive materials, and overseeing risk and issue management with timely escalations.
- Assume full accountability for the program's financials, managing a significant budget to ensure delivery against strategic priorities.
- Execute the end-to-end technology solution across multiple lines of business, including Services, Markets, and Loans, as well as enterprise functions.
- Hold end-to-end ownership of key program decisions, including the overall solution and the interactions between the core platform and its partners.
- Lead program execution using an Agile approach in close partnership with Product owners, fostering a culture that values a holistic, end-to-end view of business flows.
What we'll need from you
We are looking for a seasoned executive with deep experience in leading enterprise-level technology transformations within the financial services industry.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in banking and financial services, with at least 8-10 years in a technical program or large-scale transformation leadership role.
- Demonstrable experience leading large, complex platform transformations, conversions, or migrations, including the incremental modernization of legacy technology.
- Proven leadership experience with end-to-end ownership of technology solutions, including facing off to senior business stakeholders, regulators, and internal audit.
- Functional experience in one or more of the following areas: DDA (demand deposit accounts), cash management, payments, receivables, liquidity management, commercial cards, or trade finance.
- Strong proficiency in SAFe Agile methodologies and experience in driving culture change within a large organization.
- Experience with modern technology stacks, including microservices architecture, real-time integration/middleware, high-throughput 24x7 systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Expertise with core banking platforms and accounting principles is highly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
