Do you want to work at the forefront of one of the most fascinating and fast‑moving areas of journalism, for a world‑class international news agency in one of the most vibrant cities on the planet? Reuters is looking for a talented journalist to join its cutting‑edge Visual Verification Team in Mexico City.
Your ability to find, verify, and clear permission for compelling content will help shape Reuters’ global coverage — reaching millions of people through thousands of broadcasters, digital platforms, and text clients around the world.
This is a full-time role that demands flexibility to work long hours and some weekends.
About the Role:
As our Visual Verification & Newsgathering Producer you will:
- Be part of a high-performing team of visual verification producers and will work closely with colleagues across disciplines to tell stories in powerful and innovative ways. Using the latest open‑source intelligence (OSINT) tools and techniques, you’ll verify breaking news as it unfolds, analyze visuals from conflict zones, and contribute to high‑impact special reports, insights, and investigations.
- Scan the internet for visuals of breaking news, conflicts and trends to quickly identify original sources and uploads
- Use your interpersonal skills to speak to sources, ask them questions and get clearance for Reuters to distribute their content
- Use OSINT techniques and tools such as satellite, file imagery, metadata, weather data and other evidence to forensically analyze videos and photographs to establish if they are old, misleading, tampered with, AI-altered or AI-generated
- Find and pitch exclusive OSINT-lead stories
- Follow closely the biggest international stories of the day
- Collaborate with colleagues on special reports and investigations
About you:
You should apply if you are:
- Highly proficient at speaking and writing in English and Spanish. Candidates will be tested before setting up an interview
- Confident and calm in breaking news situations
- Good at multi-tasking under pressure
- Knowledgeable about the latest OSINT tools and verification processes
- Fascinated by international news
- Passionate about finding and telling untold stories
- Ambitious to find and cover stories that will have an impact
- Following the latest developments in the digital industry regarding artificial intelligence
- Good at working in a team environment and solo
Prior experience in social media newsgathering, verification and OSINT work would present a clear advantage. However, as full training will be given, a willingness to learn quickly, communicate clearly and work well under pressure are just as important.
Note: To be considered for this opportunity please ensure that you submit BOTH a CV/resume in English and cover letter. Your cover letter should be addressed to “To whom it may concern” and should detail your reasons for applying for the role.
