Data Engineer II
In this role, you will:
Design, build, and support scalable and durable data solutions that can enable self-service consumption use cases using cloud based technologies in an agile manner. Write clean, efficient and thoroughly tested code. Develop scalable and highly-performant distributed systems with everything this entails (availability, monitoring, resiliency). Work with our business partners to flesh out and deliver on requirements in an agile manner. Evolve development standards and practices. Take architectural ownership for various critical components and systems. Proactive problem-solving at the organization level. Communicate and document solutions and design decisions. Build bridges between technical teams to enable valuable collaborations. Build efficient ETLs/Data Solutions to surface clear and actionable observability into our Display Advertising. Construct LLM-driven data solutions to provide insightful tooling for our Ad Tech Sales/Operations teams.
This position is not eligible for relocation benefits or assistance. May work remotely or from home 2 days/week; must live within commuting distance of Expedia office.
Experience and qualifications:
Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 1 year of experience in the job offered or in a data engineering-related occupation.
Position requires:
1. Apache Spark and Apache Kafka;
2. Splunk and Datadog;
3. NoSQL and SQL databases;
4. Java;
5. Scala;
6. Apache Airflow; and,
7. Github Actions.
The total cash range for this position in Chicago, Illinois is $108,077 to $145,500/year.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.

The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $111,000.00 to $155,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $177,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
