The Business Unit Manager is a senior management-level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a professional team or department. The team drives the overall administrative activities of the business. These tasks may include managing external audits, business continuity activities or addressing regulatory issues. The Business Unit Manager coordinates and manages activities such as the tracking of business financials, employee headcount and other administrative needs and ad hoc projects as necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Drive administrative, operational, reporting and quality improvements through partnership with internal teams
- Manage financial control by applying a comprehensive understanding of the department Profit & Loss (P&L), including appropriate accruals, client allocations, the impact of capitalization, recovery and fixed price contracts in order to improve operational efficiency and productivity
- Responsible for all cross product technology, regulatory and administrative duties in conjunction with the team, including financial, staffing, quality, risk and regulatory matters
- Execute vendor management activities, including ensuring legal requirements are met and coordinating contract negotiation and processing
- Provide oversight of the Business Critical Milestone Reporting process and other reporting processes to ensure quality, efficiency and accuracy
- Ensure headcount is accurate, real estate is inventoried and planned, and onboarding and termination of resources are managed
- Work with Technology leadership to support the Business People strategy as well as the Communication strategy for the department
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Recommended Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in financial services
- Experience working in global and complex settings with multiple stakeholders
- Knowledge of the financial services industry and technology, including Profit & Loss (P&L), accruals, client allocations, capitalization, recovery and fixed price contracts
- Proven ability to work in a team of diverse skill sets and cultures
- Proven ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
Education:
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master's degree preferred
The Business Execution manager is responsible for driving the strategic, financial, and operational agenda for the Platform and Data Services (PDS) organization within Citi's Services business. This individual will be part of the Business Execution team and will act as a trusted partner to the Business Execution Head and senior leadership team, providing critical oversight and governance across all aspects of business management.
The successful candidate will be a proactive and self-sufficient leader, adept at translating high-level strategy into executable plans, enforcing rigorous financial and operational controls, and managing complex, cross-functional initiatives. This role requires a seasoned professional with exceptional financial acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels to achieve key business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Business Management:
- Partner with senior leadership to define and articulate a clear strategic vision for the PDS organization, developing a comprehensive business roadmap that aligns with broader Services and firm-wide objectives.
- Establish, track, and report on annual strategic business objectives, including executive scorecards and OKRs, ensuring they cascade effectively throughout the organization.
- Lead the execution of high-priority, cross-functional strategic initiatives critical to the business, ensuring timely delivery and successful outcomes.
Data Platform Strategy & Enablement:
- Work closely with the Head of Data Platforms, Standards, Governance & Analytics and the Data team to track and provide status on the execution of the Services Data Strategy
- Collaborate with partners including Marketing to develop and execute an internal marketing and communications plan for the Services Data Platform to drive adoption and awareness
- Take ownership of maintaining the data platform’s “Help & Support” documentation, ensuring it is accurate, comprehensive, and user-friendly
- Support the generation, review, and publishing of high-quality content and announcements on the Services Data Platform
Resource and Headcount Management:
- Actively manage headcount to ensure optimal resourcing against business priorities, financial targets, and risk and control obligations.
- Conduct in-depth monthly reviews of headcount data, including attrition trends and mapping accuracy, partnering with managers to ensure data integrity.
Technology Investment & Program Governance:
- Drive an efficient and effective use of the technology investment budget, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and measurable business outcomes.
- Partner with Product, Technology, and central COO teams to develop, prioritize, and track the technology book of work.
- Manage the multi-year technology investment planning process, coordinating across stakeholder groups to ensure alignment with global and regional priorities.
Performance Reporting & Analytics:
- Oversee the preparation and dissemination of critical management reports, including Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) and other executive-level presentations, providing a consolidated view of business performance.
- Translate complex financial, operational, and strategic data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure executive scorecards accurately reflect key business metrics, are sourced from golden-source data, and that any variances are clearly understood and communicated.
Talent and Culture Leadership:
- Champion talent management initiatives, including the support and development of Early Careers programs and fostering employee growth and skill development.
- Actively manage and respond to Voice of Employee (VOE) feedback to cultivate a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment.
- Promote a culture of end-to-end accountability, continuous improvement, and engagement through town halls, leadership sessions, and other firm-wide initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 8-10+ years of relevant experience in Business Management, Financial Planning & Analysis, Strategy, Investment Banking, or a related role within a large, complex financial services organization.
- Data Knowledge: Familiarity with data governance principles, data product management, or experience working with data platforms and data-centric technology projects is strongly preferred.
- Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to contribute to strategic planning, translate strategy into action, and lead critical business initiatives.
- Leadership & Influence: Strong leadership presence with the ability to operate as a self-sufficient leader. Proven track record of influencing and partnering with senior stakeholders across different functions and geographies.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to synthesize complex data into concise, executive-level communications and actionable insights.
- Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with experience in creating and delivering high-impact presentations for senior management.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with Citi's Services/TTS business, financial systems, and operational processes is highly advantageous.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
