Thomson Reuters is seeking a Regional Indirect Tax Compliance Manager to support indirect tax compliance across the United States and Canada. In this role, you will partner closely with the Indirect Tax Advisory team and external service providers to deliver accurate, timely indirect tax filings and related compliance activities.

You will be responsible for coordinating the preparation and filing of Thomson Reuters’ indirect tax returns, supported by external advisors and a dedicated compliance team. This is a unique opportunity to help build and lead a growing team, identify process improvements, and drive a strong, scalable compliance program.

About the Role

In this opportunity as Regional Indirect Tax Compliance Manager, you will:

  • Lead day-to-day indirect tax compliance operations, including preparation/review of returns, analysis, and filings across U.S. jurisdictions (and Canada, as applicable).
  • Own and maintain the indirect tax compliance calendar; manage external service providers to ensure timely, accurate reporting and remittance.
  • Serve as a key liaison between the Indirect Tax Advisory team and the Indirect Tax Compliance team to align priorities, technical guidance, and deliverables.
  • Ensure on-time filings with no missed deadlines; monitor legislative and regulatory changes and communicate impacts and updates to key stakeholders.
  • Partner cross-functionally to understand upstream and downstream processes (e.g., order-to-cash and procure-to-pay) and their impact on indirect taxes.
  • Support indirect tax audits by coordinating information requests, ensuring timely responses to authorities, and aligning submissions with internal tax partners.
  • Manage stakeholder escalations and drive issue resolution in partnership with internal teams and external providers.
  • Review and reconcile indirect tax accounts; collaborate with Finance Business Partners and AR/AP/GL teams to support accurate tax reporting.
About You

You are fit for the role of Regional Indirect Tax Compliance Manager if your background includes:

  • Experience in accounting and indirect tax compliance and reporting, including interaction with tax authorities and preparation/review of indirect tax returns.
  • Experience working with third-party advisors.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including people management experience.
  • Exposure to automation initiatives and process redesign.
  • Strong systems skills (e.g., Excel, macros, Alteryx, PowerPoint).
  • Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence Tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, CoPilot) for process improvement
