Position Summary
The Customer Account Manager will manage and grow customer accounts across retail segments, focusing on integrating in-store and online strategies to maximize sales and brand presence. This role involves leading digital shelf initiatives, optimizing product visibility on e-commerce platforms, and leveraging data-driven insights for retail media planning and execution. The manager must build and maintain a strong connection to the Commercial Development Organization to partner to bring category and shopper insights to drive category results. Location is flexible in and around San Antonio and Austin, TX.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and grow customer accounts across retail segments (OMNI), ensuring seamless integration of in-store and online strategies to maximize sales and brand presence.
• Primary owners of digital shelf excellence at their customers.
• Accountable for ensuring strong online merchandising, supporting execution-- including digital product availability, content, page position, pricing, assortment, and execution are best in class for each customer, meeting or exceeding customer requirements.
• Monitor category digital shelf and understand the drivers and drainers of digital shelf position at their retailer
• Support retail media planning and execution, leveraging data-driven insights to enhance brand performance through targeted digital advertising and promotional campaigns.
• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key customer stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor and strategic partner.
• Develop and present comprehensive customer business plans, including promotional calendars, joint value creation (JVC), and tailored growth strategies that align with both customer and Nestle objectives.
• Identify and secure new product expansion opportunities, leveraging shopper and category insights to drive incremental sales and market share.
• Collaborate closely with internal cross-functional teams—including CDCE, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance—to share and invite integrated solutions at the store and digital shelf.
• Monitor and analyze sales performance, forecast accuracy, and key performance indicators (KPIs), using insights to adjust plans and exceed targets.
• Ensure effective management of sales expenses and budgets, optimizing trade investments for maximum ROI.
• Stay current on retail and digital commerce trends, continuously evolving strategies to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the OMNI and retail media landscape.
• Demonstrate strong selling, negotiation, and communication skills, consistently delivering compelling, fact-based selling stories that drive results.
• Foster a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous learning, embracing new tools and approaches to stay ahead in a dynamic marketplace.
Key Experiences/Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, account management, or commercial development, with a proven track record of success in omni-channel environments
• Demonstrated expertise in the food and beverage sector or a closely related consumer goods industry, with a deep understanding of category management, shopper insights, and retail trends
• National/Regional customer experience is preferred
• Maintain and manage profitable growth to drive market share gains
• Ability to influence people and create compelling, fact-based selling stories
• Ability to create a customer plan within CAP Guidelines & assigned Trade Rates
• Knowledge of Sales fundamentals of Pricing, Promotion, Assortment and Merchandising, spoils UADs, finance crediting
• Knowledge of Integrated Commercial Planning process, CAP documents, and the Monthly Business, Planning Process
• Knowledge of customer, the marketplace, and relevant channel and shopper trends to generate actionable ideas
• Must understand the category, key competitors to develop category knowledge
• Must understand how to develop customer specific category growth strategies
• Understands all sales functions, customer and Nestlé retail sales. Good knowledge of interrelationship of key company functions and their key initiatives.
• Understands the interaction between sales functions, cross-functional teams, Customer Service and Customer Facing Supply Chain.
• Good knowledge of interrelationship of key functions and their key initiatives (Marketing, Sales Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Technical and Globe & IS/IT)
• Strong proficiency working with Microsoft Office, inclusive of Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong command of business mathematics with strong analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate ability to think strategically, and drive execution against goals
• Fast Learner who takes initiative with a “fail fast” and “fail forward” mindset
