About the Team:
We are looking for a high-impact, hands-on Sr. Director of Cloud Engineering to lead the architecture, automation, and operational stability of our hybrid-cloud ecosystem. Reporting directly to the VP of Cloud Engineering, you will be responsible for the "paved road" of our engineering organization—designing the AWS/Azure foundations and CI/CD pipelines that allow our developers to ship secure, high-quality code at velocity.
We need a technical powerhouse who can architect a multi-cloud strategy on Monday and dive into a Terraform debugging session or a complex IAM policy refactor on Tuesday.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement secure, resilient, and scalable infrastructure across AWS and Azure, ensuring high availability and cost-efficiency.
- Lead the transition to a fully automated environment using Terraform or Pulumi. You will personally build and maintain core modules that standardize deployments across the org.
- Architect and optimize robust delivery pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Jenkins) that integrate automated testing, security scanning, and seamless deployments.
- Partner with QA and Dev teams to embed automated infrastructure testing (e.g., Terratest) and application-level integration tests into the deployment lifecycle.
- Implement Policy as Code (Kyverno, OPA, or Sentinel) to automate compliance and security guardrails, ensuring the platform meets rigorous internal and external controls.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex architectural failures. Drive observability strategy (monitoring, logging, tracing) to ensure 24/7 platform health.
- Lead a high-performing team by example. Conduct deep-dive code reviews, pair-program on critical infrastructure components, and foster a culture of engineering rigor.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years in Cloud/DevOps, with the ability to demonstrate recent, deep experience writing production-grade Terraform and complex CI/CD scripts.
- Proven experience managing production workloads in AWS (primary) and Azure, including networking (VPCs, VNETs, ExpressRoute) and identity (IAM, Entra ID).
- Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS/AKS), including cluster hardening, ingress controllers, and service meshes.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language (Python, Go, or Node.js) to build custom tooling and automation.
- Experience implementing automated testing for infrastructure and applications to reduce deployment risk.
- Experience leading teams or large-scale projects without losing your technical edge. You should be comfortable moving from the boardroom to the terminal.
