Tax Manager

Role Summary:

The Tax Manager is responsible for the development, maintenance, and ongoing support of assigned GoSystem tax compliance product line(s). This role oversees all compliance and preseason products across the markets served and leads a team of Tax Analysts in delivering high‑quality, timely solutions.

The Tax Manager serves as a key liaison between product development teams and external clients or vendors, as well as between development teams and internal business sponsors and stakeholders. The position has responsibility for day‑to‑day team operations, including planning and scheduling, work review, hiring, process management and improvement, and successful delivery of assigned initiatives.

In this opportunity as a Tax Manager, you will:

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management and Process Improvement (70%)
  • Translate and communicate business requirements between development teams and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with design specifications, documentation standards, and product objectives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and enabling technologies to streamline workflows, accelerate time‑to‑market, and reduce costs where possible.
  • Manage critical processing deadlines within complex environments, making informed decisions that directly impact product delivery timelines.
  • Apply strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to understand complex concepts and identify issues that may not be readily apparent.
  • Develop initiatives and program enhancements that positively impact the customer experience.
  • Receive broad objectives and independently determine appropriate use of resources to meet schedules, deliverables, and strategic goals.
  • Scope complex initiatives based on business requirements and develop project plans, timelines, or statements of work as needed.
Leadership (20%)
  • Establish performance goals for team members that align with and support organizational goals and strategic direction.
  • Demonstrate effective people leadership and performance management skills, including attracting talent, motivating teams, and developing employees.
  • Provide direction and guidance to team members within established company policies and practices.
  • Recommend policy changes and establish procedures that impact the immediate organization.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to team members by offering guidance, resolving technical issues, and ensuring commitments are met.
  • Partner effectively across teams and functions to identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and address issues proactively.
Communication (10%)
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Lead client meetings and respond to issues with minimal oversight or intervention.
  • Clearly communicate the rationale, scope, and impact of new initiatives or changes in product direction to internal teams and stakeholders.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience working directly with clients to define needs and deliver effective solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative, innovative, and adaptable, with the ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment.
  • Proven success managing and delivering complex, time‑sensitive projects.
  • Experience developing and executing hiring and talent strategies.
  • Strong ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams and perform effectively under tight deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Solid cost management skills, with an understanding of how departmental costs impact product development and overall financial performance.
  • Ability to coach, develop, and manage staff with limited reliance on direct supervisory support.
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field required; MBA or CPA preferred.

Working Conditions

This position may require periodic evening and weekend availability during peak periods to monitor email and address time‑sensitive client escalations.

The base compensation range varies across locations. For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $100,100 USD - $185,900 USD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
