Purpose
The CDSM Senior External Cost Analyst is responsible for supporting clinical drug supply contracting, payment activity, supplier coordination, financial tracking, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure continuity of services and effective business operations. This position serves as a key subject matter expert on internal systems and processes related to contracts, invoices, payments, reporting, and supplier management, while also contributing to strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and performance improvement.
Responsibilities
Contracting, Payments, and Financial Reconciliation
- Responsible for clinical drug supply contracting and payment activity, through final payment reconciliation.
- Ensure contract requests are submitted on time with the accurate business and financial sourcing information to avoid/minimize delays. Monitor contract-associated spend and proactively alert business stakeholders when purchase orders require additional funds to ensure continuity of services
- Confirm accuracy of supplier invoices based on contract details and guidance from Project Manager’s overseeing suppliers’ work. Authorize payment of invoices according to AbbVie’s guidelines.
- Serve as the primary process owner and main point of contact for resolving supplier invoice discrepancies and payment issues, ensuring timely investigation, issue resolution, and compliance with AbbVie policies and contractual requirements.
- Own and support the tracking of actuals and forecast updates for the LBE for CDSM external vendor contracts and purchase orders, ensuring accurate financial monitoring, timely updates, alignment with business assumptions, and effective communication of variances, risks, and funding needs to relevant stakeholders.
Systems and Reporting - Primary subject matter expert on internal systems used to submit, track and reconcile contracts and related invoices/payments
- Generate monthly KPI metrics reports, and actionable reports supporting CDSM leadership and communicate to key stakeholders
- Utilize AI tools to improve performance
Supplier and Vendor Management - Collaborate with Department Management, Vendor Management, Procurement, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to secure Third Party Depot and Manufacturing services from outside suppliers
- Facilitate management of suppliers’ financial information, including updates to existing suppliers and onboarding of new suppliers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Strategic Support - Build collaborative relationships with Project Managers, Category Managers, Outsourcing, CDO, etc. to reduce waste and maximize output.
- Lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams to support CDSM strategic imperatives.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and best practices across the company.
- Act as backup for the procurement of comparator drugs, labels, commodities needed to support Clinical Studies
- Bachelor's degree required (Engineering, Marketing Analysis, Operations, Economics, Logistics, Business Administration, Communications or Statistics or relevant business experience preferred).
- Financial experience required.
- Experience supporting contract administration, invoice reconciliation, and payment processes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and financial tracking skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across Procurement, Finance, Vendor Management, Project Management, and other internal stakeholder groups.
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide reporting and insights to leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
