Position Summary
The Brand Finance Manager provides end‑to‑end financial partnership to the assigned Therapy Area(s) and Brand Team(s). The role is responsible for driving financial planning, performance management, and robust financial governance in line with AbbVie policies and external regulations.
Acting as a trusted business partner, the Brand Finance Manager supports strategic decision‑making, challenges assumptions, identifies value creation opportunities, and proactively manages financial risks. Through strong cross‑functional collaboration, the role enables delivery of business objectives while ensuring accuracy, integrity, and transparency of financial information.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Performance & P&L Management
- Lead financial oversight of assigned Therapy Area / Brand P&Ls, ensuring clear visibility of budgets, forecasts, and actual performance.
- Drive financially disciplined decision‑making by providing insights on revenue, costs, and profitability.
- Identify and actively support initiatives to maximize revenue, optimize spending, and improve overall financial performance.
- Educate and enable Brand Teams to strengthen financial acumen and ownership of financial outcomes.
Financial Planning, Forecasting & Reporting
- Lead short‑ and long‑term financial planning cycles (LBE, PLN, LRP) for assigned Brands and affiliate-wide in alignment with affiliate and corporate timelines.
- Prepare and deliver accurate, timely, and insightful monthly and quarterly financial reporting to affiliate management and headquarters beyond brand level.
- Ensure appropriate revenue recognition, expense presentation, and accordance with IFRS, US GAAP, and AbbVie policies beyond brand level.
- Ensure integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial data in all relevant systems (e.g., SAP, BPC, JDA, Power BI) beyond brand level.
Strategic Business Partnering
- Act as an active member of the Brand Team, providing financial challenges, insights, and recommendations across all Brand‑related activities.
- Support development and evaluation of business cases for Brand launches, pricing scenarios, and strategic initiatives.
- Assess financial implications of strategic options, define relevant KPIs, and support tracking of execution and results.
- Anticipate business risks and opportunities and develop financial scenarios and mitigation actions in partnership with cross‑functional stakeholders.
Demand & Forecast Integration
- Provide financial leadership and challenge to demand and sales forecasts, ensuring alignment between commercial assumptions, supply considerations, and financial outlook.
- Partner closely with Commercial, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Sales teams to integrate market intelligence into forecasts.
- Analyze deviations between actuals and forecasts, identify root causes, and support corrective actions.
- Ensure financial alignment across customers, sales, marketing, supply, and operational plans.
Control, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with local and US GAAP, AbbVie financial policies, internal control requirements (including SOX), and the AbbVie Code of Conduct.
- Maintain strong budgetary control and financial governance for assigned Brands and affiliate.
- Ensure appropriate review and approval of product pricing prior to submission to local authorities and accurate maintenance of pricing data in corporate systems.
- Support audit readiness and maintain high standards of documentation, transparency, and control.
Continuous Improvement & Capability Building
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce cost, and improve quality through simplification, standardization, and automation.
- Leverage innovative technologies and analytics to increase productivity and insight generation.
- Maintain a high level of professional competence and continuously update knowledge relevant to finance, the pharmaceutical industry, and AbbVie’s business.
Education & Professional Background
- Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of IFRS and US GAAP.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting, or Finance Business Partnering, preferably in a multinational environment.
Technical & Systems Skills
- Solid understanding of financial planning, forecasting, and performance management frameworks.
- Strong financial modeling and financial statement interpretation skills.
- Experience with SAP and financial planning/reporting tools (e.g., TM1/BPC, Power BI).
- Experience leveraging advanced analytics and AI‑enabled finance tools to enhance forecasting, insight generation, and decision support.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
