The QA Technician is responsible to support the facility in finished product, packaging, and raw material testing to help ensure released product meets Nestle specifications. In addition, this position includes internal quality and food safety audits to ensure compliance with Nestle policies and procedures. The position will include maintaining equipment in the milk receiving and UHT laboratories. This position will also cross-train on procedures within the main chemistry lab and perform testing within the main chemistry lab as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage finished product, packaging, and raw material sample receipt, handling, and testing
- Perform component testing on incoming milk, oil, corn syrup, and perform cream release testing and review
- Perform ID testing on incoming raw materials for release, usage, and review
- Make cleaning solution and zero solution for FT2, perform daily calibrations on Charm SL equipment
- Maintain laboratory environment that is clean, orderly, and safe by following proper Nestle policies, procedures, and techniques
- Take temperatures of laboratory refrigerator(s), incubator(s) on a daily basis
- Order supplies and track inventory of laboratory consumables
- Revise procedures, protocols and process flows as necessary
- Accurately records, reviews, and verify results using Good Documentation Practices (GDP’s)
- Execute Internal Control Plan (ICP) for laboratory equipment
- Responsible for data entry of laboratory results in SAP and other data management systems
- Laboratory data consolidation, trending, and reporting to operational teams
- Completion of all necessary transactions in SAP
- Timely and effective communications of all out-of-norm results to ensure deviations are resolved
- Understand and follow all Nestle Good Laboratory Practices
- Manage receipt, storage, and inventory of all laboratory consumables
- Completion of daily, weekly, and monthly quality and food safety internal audits of the facility
- Work safely and report any unsafe situations or conditions
- Obtain and maintain appendix N certification, successfully complete annual split samples
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate degree in chemistry, biology, general science, or related field preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Two years work experience or post-secondary education
- Knowledgeable of Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) preferred
- Experience in a GLP laboratory preferred
- Experience in Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment preferred
