Role Descriptions & Responsibilities
The SOLIDWORKS Product Management AI Intern will support the Product Management team in shaping the SOLIDWORKS AI roadmap. This role is focused on identifying where AI can create real value for customers, products, and internal processes.
The intern will research the latest advancements in the AI industry, including large language models, agentic AI workflows, and AI development tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and similar platforms. They will assess how these technologies can be applied to improve product strategy, customer experience, and future roadmap opportunities within the SOLIDWORKS ecosystem.
A key part of the role will be conducting market, customer, and competitive research to identify pain points, emerging needs, and high-value AI use cases.
The intern will work with customers and internal stakeholders, gather and synthesize insights, and help convert findings into structured recommendations that inform product direction and AI roadmap planning. The intern will also work in a highly collaborative environment with Product Define, Development, and other partner teams to evaluate ideas from multiple perspectives, including customer value, business impact, and implementation feasibility.
Qualifications
· Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Product Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Human-Computer Interaction, Business, or a related field
· Strong interest in AI, emerging technology trends, and how AI can be applied to real product and customer problems
· Familiarity with the latest developments in the AI industry, including LLMs, agentic AI concepts, and AI productivity tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or similar platforms
· Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to gather information, identify patterns, and turn findings into actionable insights
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize research clearly for cross-functional audiences Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment across Product Management, Product Define, Development, and other partner teams Comfort engaging with customers or internal stakeholders to understand needs, pain points, and use cases
· Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-moving environment Preferred qualifications
· Prior internship, project, or coursework experience in product management, market research, user research, AI, or strategy Familiarity with AI use case discovery, prompt-driven workflows, or evaluating AI tools for business or product applications
· Exposure to CAD, engineering software, B2B product environments, or technical product ecosystems Experience preparing presentations, recommendations, or product documentation for stakeholders
· Basic understanding of software development processes and how product teams collaborate with engineering teams
