Skills and Competencies
- Strong accounting and financial statement analysis skills, with understanding of key metrics for banking and insurance sectors.
- Ability to conduct financial and statistical research, including building, maintaining, and updating financial models and forecasts.
- Solid academic foundation in economics and finance with practical application to credit risk assessment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish, with the ability to produce clear, structured credit narratives. English proficiency is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; basic knowledge of Python or other finance‑related programming languages is a plus.
- High attention to detail, strong organization skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Collaborative mindset, professional skepticism, adaptability to change, strong ethical standards, with some fixed income/credit knowledge as pluses.
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.
Education
- Undergraduate degree in Economics, Actuarial Science, Finance or related fields is required.
- Graduate/second level degree (Masters, MBA) or progress towards completion of the CFA program is a plus.
- No prior experience required; relevant internships or up to 1 year of experience in financial analysis, credit risk, banking, insurance, or related fields are a plus.
Responsibilities
The Associate ML will conduct ongoing credit analysis of financial institutions (banks, insurance companies, and SGR) in Argentina and Uruguay to support accurate ratings and market insight.
- Perform preliminary credit analysis to support ratings, research, outreach, and presentations under guidance from team leaders.
- Analyze financial statements and data, prepare spreadsheets and charts, build/update models and forecasts, and draft analytical commentary aligned with Moody’s Local methodologies.
- Identify data trends and apply analytical judgment to form preliminary credit conclusions.
- Collaborate closely with senior analysts on rating actions, publications, workflow improvements, and analytical best practices.
- Gather, prepare, and maintain financial information for issuers rated by Moody’s Local.
- Support credit monitoring and surveillance by updating analyses, preparing surveillance data, and escalating deeper reviews when needed.
- Develop and apply a working knowledge of Moody’s Local methodologies while ensuring data integrity, documentation, and compliance with controls.
- Work collaboratively with associates and lead analysts and perform routine administrative or ad hoc credit-related tasks as assigned.
