I asked a mentor what their thoughts were on me requesting a title readjustment to my manager. They said I should wait 6 months to a year because she wouldn’t want me to become collateral. What would be the best course of action in this situation? This mentor is a manager and could have information that I don’t on possible layoffs or other major changes. Could I become collateral from just asking for a reevaluation of my work responsibilities and salary?
